It's amazing how hard it has been actually getting a DAT converted from that conn college show. GregM and Louie have been talking about doing theirs for years and for one reason or another it hasn't happened.

2/17 is probably the akg and 1/27 is the schoeps, I would imagine. I think the sources were all the same, no?

I am from CT and got these shows back when they occurred and did nothing with them... here is a sample. Be on the look out for these in about a month or so. I will prob have a friend normalize these as I see they were recorded very low

Well

I am sure one is the Akg 460-mv-100-dap-1 source but I know local tapers who I haven't seen or talked to in 10 years. But I have 3 sources. I'm looking for help from people who can really analyze a wav file and see if there are indeed differences. One of the 1st sources im going to let out is the 1-27-97 because I only have 1 source. Do you have the rest of the schoeps lineage? If anyone could help pm me

steve

god, I don't know if I can remember correctly, but I think there was one guy who taped Conn College, Orono and Johnson & Whales. Schoeps MK4 > VMS > DAP1. I never knew anything about a second orono source but I guess there is an akg one as well. With your Conn College you might just have to go with DAUD, because anything else would really be a guess. I've never seen another source, but that doesn't mean yours isn't.

cc is impossible to get into now. But, there are a lot of schools just as expensive that are a hell of a lot worse. Trinity for one.

Great versions of Typical, Warehouse, LIOG, Granny, Angel From Montgomery, Say Goodbye, Minarets... one of my first favorite shows.

I know this is a 1996 thread, but what are people's must have from 96, 97, and 99? Shows with unique performances, segues, ect....? Been on a huge D&T kick lately and never really got into any of shows for whatever reason....

as far as crazy stuff in 1996. Pretty much anything from 2/13 on is worth getting. Some crazy segues and rarities. I mean 2/13, 2/14, 2/16, 2/17, 2/18, & 2/19 are all amazing shows.

From '97 you've got to go with 2/21/97 as being basically the best show of the tour. But, there are highlights all over. 2/6, 2/7 & 2/8 all all sweet shows.

From 99. I'd grab 1/19 because of the rarities. 2/6 is basically a sbd (2/5 has a sbd) with some classic dave speak & Popper in the encore. 2/7 is a great tape and has some rarities. Then, just ahead in the month to like 2/17 or so. There are some great auds from Jeff travitz in that KY run. Then, more or less all of March is worth having.

sorry about not having more info on mid/late feb '99 dates. The almanac is down and my memory on dmb stuff isn't what it used to be. But, that is when they started playing Halloween & wild horses. There were some one offs on the 2/23 show, but that tape is pretty bogus. Terra Haute & Luther College have pretty bad tapes for being quite interesting sets. They are really the weak links of the tour along with the first three shows. Everything else is very listenable to amazing.

I thought the 2/5 sbd was determined to be an aud? Or are you talking about the incomplete sbd that has floated around. Not sure if it matters, just curious.

Also one more vote for the March shows in particular 3/13/99. While we have a pristine copy of it, I would love a fully mixed version of this show. Just a great listen.
