Thanks for saying that. Just because certain people here don't like the tune doesn't mean they should bash it opening a show.

I like that he said it was rare. We really need to break the constant cycle of people being so enthused about certain things that are rare for the sake of them being rare. Somethings that weren't that great can still be rare. Rare doesn't automatically equate to greatness. Just because Hallowen is somewhat of a rarity doesn't make every performance spectacular, see RR '05.

good reviews, but you need to work on your rating format. it's a mess.

"4/5**** stars"

It looks like four-fifths of four stars stars

might I suggest for four stars just going with a basic "****"

Dead on. I Did It hasn't been played since '04. It could be called a rarity now but it sure as hell isn't one I miss.

I think I remember earlier you posted a list of all the shows reviewed thus far. Just a suggestion: any way we can keep the list/rating going in the first post? If that isn't too much of a pain in the ass for you to do.. it would be great for when we are downloading shows. Regardless, I hope this thread keeps going. It is going to make a HELL of a reference thread for those looking for shows to download.

Yeah I know that is the one thing I have had trouble with since I started reviewing. I'll use your rating system since it seems much easier. Thanks.

Don't worry the rating system will be right this weekend when I write another review.

This was the second show of Dave Matthews Bands first trip down under. The people of australia were quiet during certain times during the performance since they were eager to hear what the band was playing. #41 is always an amazing opener with a sweet jam by Boyd/Roi. Satellite seemed slow to me for some reason. The energy picked up with Rapunzel. A beautiful Everyday with a short #36 outro where everyone was singing along. Granny and Crash are always highlights no matter what sets they are played in. Jimi Thing also had a sweet jam that reflected mostly 2004's style. Dave took a sweet guitar solo before scatting for 2-3mins. An early American Baby foreshadowed what was to come for the summer. Rare placement in the set nowadays. Two Step featured a nice salsa jam interlude between Carter/Butch. LLD, DIDO two songs which would later become rare these last few years have some nice versions here. One of the last full-band Cry Freedom's but a beautiful version nonetheless. A flub in Watchtower by Dave throws the band off but they end the set with still more energy to go. The encore opens with Hello Again for the first time. Carters solo is intense! Butch fools around with the keys a little during it. Dave scats shortly before Carter really gets into the solo. Ants Marching is always a rocking way to end any show.

Tripping Billies

Sound quality: top of the line
rating: ***3/4

This setlist has some rare songs in it for sure, it's all in all a good show, it would have been absoultly amazing to be at. I wish Bela would have stuck around longer, just even for one more song after Lie In Our Graves, The Last Stop. But then the rest of the Flecktones come out for Jimi Thing, which was kinda unusual, they dont usually play on that one all the time, I would have expected #41. But Jimi Thing is real cool, 2006 was my 2nd favortie Jimi Thing year in the 00s probably. This version consists of the I Dream of Jeannie interpolation, and For What It's Worth outro. Say Goodbye is nice, but Dave's voice wasn't perfect on this one, the intro was enjoyable. Sleep To Dream Her into Break Free was all right. Break Free was an okay version, I got kinda bored of it for some reason, but it was cool. Lie In Our Graves is outstanding, as usual, with Bela, a very very good version. SAWG is fine, and Tripping Billies is always a good ending. Based on the setlist, this show could be amazing, but it's just a level below that.

This was the 2007 tour closer. This show has great musical talent all over, with great guests. ADSR opens the show, with the best version played all year, then an up for grabs Two Step. The intro to Two Step is mind blowing, one of the best overall versions all tour. For Dave's wife's 34th birthday, they bust out #34 with a couple lines of lyrics, a good version indeed. Then, banjo player, Danny Barnes joins the band for 5 straight songs, ending with a fantastic remdition of Lie In Our Graves. Shotgun was a good version, but arguably the highlight of the night was when John Mayer guested on #41. He truely did a amazing job!! DMB picked a great setlist, playing Warehouse next, then the Marley's came up and they played Exodus, very very cool indeed. And then the encore. Butch at his best. At the end of ABI, Butch started to play the opening notes of Grey Street, then slowly it built up, and then the band exploded into Grey Street to neatly close the tour.

To say that Dave's voice "wasn't perfect" for Randall's '06 is like saying the Detroit Lions were a relatively weak team last year.
