There are flaws definitely. Dental isn't covered by OHIP. But you can maybe get it through your employer or from a private provider. Or if you're on any of the province's social assistance plans, some of the costs will be covered.

Health insurance is so bad now, I pay so much towards it every pay check and barely get any benefits from it. Iím probably gonna get a 10K bill after my wife gives birth this Spring.

My current plan has a $3500 deductible and pays 80% after I meet that. But I have a HSA that my employer puts $25 into every month.

right now it's $37 out of each paycheck. BUT! Starting January 1st they are giving everyone a free FitBit and putting us on a wellness plan. Depending on the level of participation I can get my premium down to $17 a paycheck.

Our insurance company is currently fighting with the biggest health care company in town, which means that the closest hospital to our house and the biggest, best and best equipped hospitals in town don’t even take our insurance. The only decent hospital that accepts out insurance now is half an hour away on the other side of town.

Current San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee died early this morning. I was curious who'd take over as Mayor and it looks like London Breed was appointed Mayor. She was the President of the Board of Supervisors.

Welp as it turns out my company actually offers a PPO plan that is much better than the plan I signed up for. It wasn't listed on the sign up page because it's the last year the company is offering it (my hotel got bought, I've technically only been with this company for 13 days). Premium is a bit higher but the deductible is only $1500 and the copays are MUCH better. So this is going to save me a bunch of money.

also, i get to be injected with radioactive dye tomorrow!

Stuff That Doesn't Need Its Own Thread

I’ve done the dye before, really interesting actually. Dual stress fractures in my shins.

I swear...

Ok so as previously mentioned, my hotel was purchased by a new company. So same hotel, new employer. We were told there was no break in insurance coverage. Fair enough. Told that between the 1st and the 15th we'd have to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed, and then after that insurance kicks in. ALSO, when I log into into my companies benefits page, it says my insurance is effective 12/1/17. I just don't have a card with a group and policy number yet.

So last week when I went to the doctor the office was like "no worries, we will just bill the insurance when you get your card". I went to a hospital to get the ultrasound and they said the same thing. No worries, we will wait to bill.

Now the company that does blood work for my doctor refuses to see me unless I pay out of pocket in full, which they said was going to be around $500. And the hospital wanted me to pay in full for my HIDA scan today.

fuck

Good lord. Talk about not being able to catch a break. I really hope that you get all of this figured out soon. I mean, I’ve been through some medical crap over the past few years, but I always knew my insurance was solid. I can’t imagine the stress this is adding for you. I’m really sorry that you have to go through this with so much uncertainty hanging over so much of it.

As long as we’re complaining about insurance, I honestly think that if I heard today that everyone in every office operated by United Health Care suddenly died, I wouldn’t blink an eye. I had to call them yesterday because they suddenly rejected my daughter’s medicine, which they have been covering every month for two years. Today I got a message saying that my wife’s OB doctor is out of network. We’ve been seeing her for two months and they’ve already processed several claims from her. So now I have to call them, for the second day in a row, find out how they screwed this one up.
