Nice! (Gotta ask, where do you work? I'm curious since it's local.)

Well it was Edgewood. Been there 11 years and just can't take it anymore. Bills don't get paid, no communication. Its a sinking ship. They owe so much money to vendors i can't get chemicals and fertilizer or parts to fix the equipment. With me leaving no one on property has the experience that I do. Nothing is top of the line. The irrigation and equipment are running on borrowed time. I was always able to put out great conditions with what was given to me but I'm tired of the constant struggle.

Heres a review from October, pretty much sums it up

"This course was VERY well maintained. I played in the fall when the leaves were falling. Somehow they kept the leaves blown off the course, greens were clean and immaculately maintained. The ball rolled true on all my putts. Nice even, tight cut greens! The fairways were tight, challenging and a lot of fun. My only complaint is the cart paths... They are everywhere and the tight treelined fairways had my ball going way out of wack if it caught one of them..And the tree roots had a lot of them busted up so they arent even usable... Overall a challenging, fun course with some beautiful holes! The staff was friendly and I will definatly be returning to this one! And the price is well worth the drive up when this course is much better then the ones in my local area."

That's right, haha, I couldn't remember if you just started there and that was the new gig or not.

Where are you headed now?

Good luck to you!

Workplace drama is the fucking worst. I'm right in the middle of a situation that ended up with our sous chef getting fired yesterday, and I know that if the kitchen finds out about it, I'm going to have a very rough time working back there for a very long time. God dammit.

Yeah its pretty shitty. Got one response back from the e-mail I sent. Really no other way to reach 10 people at the same time. Haven't been invited to an owners meeting since December and no contact with anyone since February 1st. Was told I was a big asset and they hate to lose me and they were trying to correct the problem. I don't see how. For me to do my job correctly they need to pay off $17,000 and allow me to spend around $8,000. When they can barely meet payroll I don't see them just dishing out $25k.

So how are things looking for you now? Need the update! I've got the golf itch.

To make a long story short, I'm still at my old course. A local course wanted to buy us. I was working behind the scenes with them to try and help make that happen. When the deal was dead in the water I handed in my resignation. Next day they had an emergency meeting and decided to sell. I guess losing me was just too much to overcome on top of everything else. Over the past few weeks the deal almost fell through but it looks like by Tuesday it should be completed. Lots of improvements are scheduled to be made and after struggling for 11 years and multiple ownership changes I'm happy that things will finally be done right, and have people who know what they are doing. The course is green but still needs a lot of winter clean up. Have a new bunker rake coming in the next 2 weeks so I can rake traps for the first time since September and a new reel motor so we can cut tees and collars and approaches. Hopefully everything will be back to normal by mid April. Course just needs to dry out some so I can start mowing fairways. I need to disappear for a few days to make it seem like i "left".

How's business? It seems like less and less people want to make time to play golf these days. But maybe that's not reality you see

Good stuff, hope things are looking up there. Can't wait to get out when the weather breaks. Edgewood, Sand Springs, Blue Ridge, WB Muni, etc.....

We have our members who are slowly dying off or are moving south that are a large chunk of our business. I will say we have been getting a lot of younger golfers so far this year. I've been surprised so far. Our rounds have been down over the years but that has been due to course conditions being subpar to other local courses. These new owners have done more in the past 2 weeks then I've seen done in the last 8 years. I'm excited to see what is in store over the next few years.

Course is finally starting to come around. Still trying to get the equipment working properly and training a new staff, but the course is in great shape. Everything has been mowed (minus the rough, mower is leaking oil), bunkers have finally been raked and I've been told the greens are rolling quick. Some trees are being removed, stumps are being grounded and some cart paths are being repaired. Sadly this weeks weather looks horrid.

That's beautiful man, great work

My grandparents used to own a place on a golf course in Arizona. It was so nice. I played a few times as a kid, but I didn't really know what was going on. I enjoyed driving the golf cart more
