Wait you purposely slowed it down? Or was the stream sped up? It did feel fast on the video stream itself for sure.

The stream was sped up, so I slowed it down to make it sound like it's supposed to sound. Not sure if it's exactly right, but I think it's close.

Sounds fine to me now. Thanks a lot.

I don't think Dave flubbed anything. I'd be very surprised if he didn't just finally decide to sing the 3rd verse again, especially considering he switches up some of the words in it.

The big question will be whether or not he does it again. Either way, this is very surprising and pretty cool.

You can almost hear the uncertainty in his voice where he's like "wait this feels kinda familiar but I'm not sure it's right"

Nah I think this was a happy mistake, and they're in the biz now of shortening, not lengthening, songs

What program did you use to fix the audio pitch?

I have an older version of Sony Sound Forge. The proper way to do this seemed complicated and I didn't want to mess with it today, so I just adjusted the playback rate and recorded the audio via Stereo Mix as it played on my computer.

Mp3MyMp3 Recorder is a useful little free tool:

Nice work cgator. Listening to this reminds me of the solo early-mid 90's recordings. There's a nice warmth about it, even if technically it's because of a loss in quality from the transfer. Reminds me of that Yoshi's #40.

Thanks. The quality issues were just with the stream. The actual capture and edit were lossless (obviously converting to an mp3 at the end was not).

Are you 100% sure? The other 3 people on the stream sounded just fine/normal speed.

Probably mad that his son printed out the full Grey St lyrics off the almanac

Yeah, it was just Dave that was sped up. A lot of people were commenting about it during the stream. And I had to slow the playback down a significant amount to match the Verizon in-home recording that I used as a reference.

Unlikely he read the whole thing from a lyric sheet. He basically did the third chorus twice (adding “kicking out all the windows...” to the second chorus as well).

Holy shit, I love it. The idea that he needed to print the lyrics to Grey Street of all songs is pretty laughable but I'm glad his self confidence is that low. Thanks for the corrected version cgator.

Yeah, I was feeling something like this too. Very nice.

Yup, when I listened at first I was like

He also adlibs some words in the third verse, so he’s not just reading the lyrics.

The verse is:
There's a stranger speaks outside her door
Says take what you can from your dreams
Make them as real as anything
It'd take the work out of the courage
But she says, "Please,
There's a crazy man that's creeping outside my door,
I live on the corner of Grey Street and the end of the world"

Dave sings:
Well there's a stranger right outside her door
Says take what you need from your dreams
Make them as real as anything
It'll take all the work out of the courage
But she says, "Please,
There's a crazy man waiting outside my door,
I live on the corner of Grey Street, but it feels like the end of the world"
