As of 2018, what is your favorite single live release?

It can be DMB, DM, D+T...any live album that features Dave Matthews.

I’m making this thread because it dawned on me today that Benaroya Hall is my favorite all-time release, followed closely by Kingbury Hall, then LT Vol. 3 and LT Vol. 1.

But Benaroya, man, is just the perfect release IMO. Great mix, insight from Dave (I refuse to use the word “Davespeak” because it’s super fanboyish and awful), a nearly perfect set, and some real standouts like LW, FTT, Raven, Bartender, Stay, AIFHTSA and perfectly imperfect performances of Stone and #41.

How ‘bout you? I think it’s a good time to revisit this age-old question.

I really like that you jumped in, because I’ve always been curious as to what yours is. Great pick, too

That one is in/around my top 5.

Live Trax 1 is my favorite. That Seek Up from start to finish gets me going.

Much easier to give a top 5, but gun to my head for just one, LT 3.

When I get the itch to listen to DMB again (which I'm hoping will come eventually ) this is the one I need to give a good listen to.

Big fan of that Benaroya show as well, but the LT34 Creek show is also badass, as is LT 39 from Oakland, and LT 9 from that Alpine 04 show.

But I'm also partial to LT29 from Blossom as I was at the show, and it's one of my favorites from over the years, and LT16 for similar reasons. Same, to a lesser degree, with the Weekend on the Rocks release that I throw on now and again because it's nice to think back on a really fun weekend.

Gun to the head as to my overall favorite, though? It's a close race between Live at Red Rocks (which is really what got me into the band) and Live at Luther College. I couldn't even fathom a guess as to how many times I've listened to both of those over the years, and they STILL get play from me to this day.

Thanks, it is a personal selection. I recognize it is probably not the best release with Red Rocks and LT1, but it is my favorite. I wish I could give my full story of the release. I just don't know what's cool to say and what isn't.

Roi is fantastic on everything and his Proudest solos always bring me smiles, but I think it's one of the few shows where Dave is the MVP. The vocals have a different feel because it's from that 15 month period where Carter did little to zero backup vocals. He was off and on in 1998, almost all off in 1999 and he brought them back around Listener. His alternate lyrics on Granny, passion on Wynona and the improv on Drive take all those to a different level.

Solid bonus disc as well with a long #40, and a slamming Last Stop. He had problems with two guitars before Last Stop and was super-frustrated, ripping out his plug on the second and throwing it down (audible on the audience tape), before getting a third guitar and unleashing on the song.

It's really tough to pick just one. It's probably LT11.

I've been listening to so much D&T for the past year-plus, I'm tempted to go with LT24 or 41.

If I had to go back and pick just 1 release to listen to, I would have to go to back Red Rocks. Such a great time period with this band and the release was perfect.

There are plenty of others, I absolutely love Live Trax 8 because I was there and it's a great show, but Live Trax 1 is fantastic also, along with LT 34.

Live Trax 3

Red Rocks 95 and Luther are up there as well just for nostalgic reasons.

Ah this is hard! A few are in the mix, LT1, Red Rocks, and LT30 are all killer releases that I love...

Forced to pick one though I would have to say LT3. It's perfect.

You won't regret it. This is another one that came to mind for me when I read this question.

Of the major “mainstream” releases, this is my favorite.
