Yeah, The Riff is terrifically underrated. Co-written by Rashawn Ross. Imagine that!

Stuff That Doesn't Need Its Own Thread (DMBc Version)

My yearly posting of this video. My favorite Dave interview by far. Chuckling at home with an old friend

A horrendous song. One of the worst live songs in the catalogue. Nothing sucks energy out of a crowd like The Riff. Absolutely soulless.

The dislike for The Riff is one of the top 10 most mind-boggling things about the boarding community in our current era.

Never understood it. Especially calling it trash or horrendous.

Nah it’s pretty bad.. Not their worst song by any means and not “terrible” but it’s pretty bland, goes nowhere, does nothing. The actua guitar riff is cool and I like the flute buthose are literally the only positive things I take from it. It’s not good lyrically and the sections don’t sound like they fit together at all.

The Riff is my favorite song from AFTW. I love the "if you stay with me" part, the desperation it conveys and the way the intensity builds. Looking back I heard it twice live, both times in 2012 (Alpine, Cville). Here's [Only registered users can see links.] from Alpine. Great version.

It is the best song lyrically from AFTW except for maybe Snow Outside.

Song is so bad. Comes across to me like he tried to write something similar to a song from the BTCS era and came up completely empty handed.

In other news, Happy New Year all!

I donít have any strong feelings either way about The Riff. They never really gave it a chance, though

Interesting that it is so polarizing, though. I don’t hate it, but I don’t actively choose to listen to it either. Bores me.

Saw the live debut in Camden and was underwhelmed. Could it get better with more plays.....yes....but definitely feels like a forced song. That being said, if DMB ever decides to play with a symphony, this will be one of the tunes I'd like to hear them attempt.
