Been revisiting old shows I attended since I saw them for MSG N2 this year.

That first night of the 2002 Winter run is horribly underrated. (12/20/02)

Captain
The Song That Jane Likes
Too Much
Bartender
When the World Ends
Halloween [tease]
Grace Is Gone
Grey Street
I Did It
The Stone
Sleep to Dream Her »
Loving Wings
Warehouse
Crush
Everyday
Two Step
-----------------------------------
Christmas Song
What You Are

Couple key notes about this show. First time ever that Captain opened a show. Retro Louie, Louie outro in Warehouse.

The thing I'm noticing about this show is the overall consistency out of everyone in the band at this point.

Listen to Roi on Grace in the ending jam. He was the glue in this band. Everything else since his loss has been a bandaid, no pun intended, to move the band in a new direction. I'm missing the fuck out of that "classic" sound. Roi and Boyd on point is now considered a rarity by modern standards but when they were on, it was a major reason why this band had its distinct sound.

Check out the show. You won't be disappointed.

So, yeah, switch out Weezer for DMB.

Real DMB fans will know their true last album was BTCS.

The Stone (5/21/99) with Béla is an underrated version. Usually the 8/7/98er gets a lot of love, but this 99 one is quite nice.

I don't think any song with Bela is ever underrated. If anything overrated, dare I say . In all honesty though, Bela could join as a full time member and I'd have no complaints..when he plays with the band he raises everyone's musicianship level.

If someone said we could have Bela on full time but it meant losing Tim, I'd take it. There's nothing as good to my ears as DMB with Bela Fleck.

at this point, don't think I'd be able to do that. Tim is here until the end now as far as I'm concerned. When Roi passed, having a guy like Tim there who's been by the band's side since the very beginning was very comforting, and while I don't love all the tones and stuff he does, what he's contributed has been far more positive than negative.

Man I fucking loved that show. 12/21 gets the love but that one was the one I liked a lot more and listen to more often.

The in-concert instagram videos that Jeff and Rashawn post are cool and I’m glad we’re getting them.

Not trying to start the “Dmb will be playing state fairs or not” argument but these numbers from 2016 compared to 2018 are interesting .
Doesn’t seem likely that ticket prices are going to come down anytime soon.

2016 DMB grossed 34.9 million in 48 shows with 710,000 tickets sold. [Only registered users can see links.]

2018 DMB grossed 47.7 million in 46 shows so far reported in the year, also selling 6,000 more tickets total with 716,000 total in 2 less shows.

Wouldn’t say underrated but def overlooked because of James Brown and 12/21. 12/20 is Definitley one my all time favorite ‘02 shows. That MSG run is just fantastic, would love to see this night tacked on as a LT in the future. One of my favorite Loving Wings also

I wouldn’t mind a few tracks released from this show. Fabulous captain, warehouse and my absolute favorite two step intro:

By a stormy road i took
one look into rain and eyes alive
and fire when burned grows to stone
and so did all the soldiers
pray that maybe god will
watch over them
it's when the battle breaks
that god turns to walk away

The Ryley Walker LWS record (and apparently the artist himself) is now Dave-approved.

This was my second DMB show. I like going back and listening to it but Bartender is messed up on the copy of the tape I have. Does anyone have a clean copy they can share?

Here's the Bartender: [Only registered users can see links.]

edit: I think I'm hearing this Bartender for the first time. I see what you mean. At around the 5:30 mark it sounds like another tape is spliced in, lasting for slightly over a minute.

edit 2: more tape splices during Butch's/Roi's solo. Guess there were problems.

Anybody have the link for that page that had all the Sugar Wills/Hello Agains/Joyrides, etc. from 2004?

Seems I'm missing a whack of Sugar Wills from 2004:

7/6
7/11
7/14
7/16
7/17
7/29
8/1
8/4
8/18
8/26
8/29
8/31
10/1
10/3

I don't know how this happened.
