Those grid-locks in the south are so damn funny to me. 2 inches of snow and temperatures in the 30s would be a tropic vacation for us right now

I appreciate the 20 degree weather now after this cold winter.

I'm originally from NY and laughed my arse off about it initially, but this whole thing has gotten to be a pretty sore subject around these parts.

I think the thing that everyone is missing is the fact that in your areas its often pretreated. Our governor decided that because we get snow fake outs all the time that he wasnt going to do shit. Monday it was like 60s so the ground got a chance to warm up, then tuesday it was 15 in the am and didnt reach much above 25. So when the snow hit it melted a bit and created ice.

So instead of thinking about us freaking over 2 inches of snow, which we really dont, people just dont know how to drive down here anyways, think of it as freaking over 2 inches of ice.

The problem has been and always will be ice down here. Other than the Blizzard of 93 I've yet to be in a snow storm that didnt shut the city down, not due to volume of snow, but sheer volume of ice due to untreated roads. There are still roads today that are shut down because they cant get to them to treat them.

Seriously. I dont understand WTF they were thinking. They make plenty of cuts during the year to line their pockets, yet when emails are telling you Saturday night/sunday morning that Tuesday is going to be way worse than expected you should spend alittle cash and treat the roads.

Like I just said above, we will see what happens next friday. The temperature doesnt support what happened on tuesday, but its also a week away and pressures can change very easily, even wiping out the idea of snow total.

I used to love snow as a kid, I hate it as an adult because its not just snow anymore.

Exactly. It comes with a pile of headaches and trains me to brace for a blast of cold anytime i want to go somewhere, after which time I can expect to experience bone-chills for 5 minutes and blindness due to foggy glasses

They can freak out and overreact to 2" inches all they want. I appreciated the day and a half off from work.

At first they were calling for another chance of snow next Friday but it has since been changed to just a chance of showers.

Yeah I saw that about an hour ago. I like snow, I hate ice, and living down here since I was 2 has given me plenty chance to fuck with ice lol.

We were supposed to get 8-10 inches here in North jersey last night and got none. Very strange.

We ended up with like 7 inches with drifts up to a foot, worst part was the sheet of ice under it, made getting your footing while shoveling really fun...

Sun was bright today. Sidewalks are clearing up. Didn't feel like -16 w. a windchill.

This is by far the worst winter in the past 10 years or more.
