There is a general misconception about colored vinyl. Colored vinyl will only sound worse because of the plant pressing it presses records terribly.

tl;dr - If a record is cut well and pressed at a good plant it will sound fine regardless of the color or style.

I do find MPO is definitely in the mid-level tier miles above URP and Rainbo...but the stampers for Crash were absolutely fine and loads of people reporting lots of distortion/nonfill with the colored splatter variant so given everything else was fine with the test pressings (and the same stampers were used for the black vinyl) one has to conclude it was MPO that had some QC issues?

I never listened to a colored variant. I know the issues being reported with RR95 were 99%+ due to turntables like the LP60 and nothing to do with the pressing plant, but Crash did sound like many copies were done poorly and it was people at places like SHTV reporting it too, not just vinyl noobs.

It's already listed on Amazon for pre-order (comes out Jan 5th through other retailers). It's listed at $81 now but I assume if you're patient it will drop in a few months like Red Rocks has.

I am impatient so I already ordered from the Warehouse. At least I got a rolling stone subscription for free out of it.
