i'm about halfway through season 9 on my x-files rewatch, and fuck balls is it tough to get through.

in the first season (or maybe 2nd) a stand alone (sci-fi ep)...had a nameless enemy would make regular citizens do shit via subliminal messaging.

at the end the dude (or chick) text's mulder to the effect of "had fun, until next time, bye bye"

i always wished they did another story with that

It probably should have ended at the end of the 7th. I get that the 6th and 7th are worse than what came before, but a lot of episodes are still really strong.
