WTWE was the one dud that kept popping up in 2004, too. That's a great show.

I'd pay for vinyl album reissues. I'll find anything else through other means

I'd like them to do some vinyl only live releases (w/ download included of course).

I think Spring '02 is actually fairly overrated. A lot of that flecktones Canada shows and the epic 41 that ensued have a lot to do with it. I wouldn't complain at all about a release from that era, but it's not my ultimate choice. I would love another Sept '03 show, Oct. '04 VFC show or Summer '00 if we're going with that general timeframe.

Why do I have a feeling the next Live Trax will be from one of the shows they did in Europe at the end of 2015.

I don't see that happening unless they've got another European tour to promote in 2016.

Agreed. No way do they release two '15 shows in a row.

Agreed. I don't see them going on a '15 splurge the way they released a bunch of '08 shows.

This is a controversial opinion... but one I agree with. I think there's a lot of emotion involved with people in regards to Spring '02 because 2001 was just SO bad. When I listen to Spring '02 shows I don't think it's the band on top of their game. I actually think they sounded better in the Summer of '02.

I'm willing to give a Spring 2002 Live Trax the Pepsi Challenge, though...

I think the best shows of the tour are the less discussed ones. I really like 5.10, 5.23, the the 4/29 - 5/5 stretch. I've given 4/7 a couple goes in the past few years and outside of the obvious highlights, the rest of the show is just there for me.

Bat and Rob are 100% right. It's not that the shows were boring, bland and run-of-the-mill. A lot of the attention that tour received for years was due to the fact that it was such a breath of fresh air that the band survived 2001. I distinctly remember thinking during some of those shows that I was going to see a band playing 90% ED stuff, and continue to pour out new forced trite Baritone-guitar songs. But that wasn't the case. Pig came back and with a motherfuckin' vengeance, Butch seemed a bit more involved in some of the older tunes, and as Rob pointed out some of the more evenly flowed performances came from shows that didn't get the fan treatment like 5/10.

I think the enduring focus of Spring '02 is a testament to the power of excitement the fanbase had at that time due to DMB proving they were still DMB, and that focus and attention just settled in the fanbase year after year, long after many of those fans had left the scene, to now where we're still talking about that tour.

Yeah 4/7 is the one I always think of when it comes to that Spring... so much hype about that show but when I listen I'm just kinda like, "Oh, OK."

Now when I listen to something like 7/29, that lives up to the hype every time.

I've never really listened to any of the May shows from '02 though. Might have to give those a try.

So in another thread I was talking about the vast library of releases we have now making me feel pickier about what I'd be willing to pay for. So I thought, "what would I be willing to drop some Cash Money on?" and the list ended up being longer than I thought, though pretty specific:

Multi-track Griesar era show: If such a thing exists and they could put it together, I'd buy it

Multi-track '94 show: Ditto if they did a '94 release too. They were filming the WWYS video during a 3 night stand at the Fox in Boulder Colorado in November of '94. It's possible they could have been recording in multitrack at the time and maybe they could give us a nice little compilation of the 3 night stand a la Live Trax 30

Specific 1995 shows: We've got so many '95 releases now, but there are still some shows I'd take - the RSO shows, 8/15, and 8/20

Cow Palace '96 - CAASH baby

Early Summer '97 with the Flecktones - I'd take anything, but preferably 6/8

Any show I was at - I'm sure you'd all do the same, but in particular 5/30/99, 7/7/04, 6/21/08, 6/13/09, and 6/8/13 would all make good releases aside from being some of the best shows I attended

The only open ended years for me are 1998 and 2000 now. I'd take just about anything from those years, but in particular:
1998 - One of the Herbie Hancock shows, 8/7, 12/3, 12/7, or a good show with Greg Howard
2000 - As much of the September run that they're willing to give, I'd take

I'd probably also be willing to drop cash on a top notch show from 2002 or 2004 as well.

What would your list look like?
Well looking back on this now and the only thing that's been knocked off of this list is the multi track '92 show, and that ended up being even better than I thought it would be. So other than that this list still stands. Hopefully the next LT is something like this.

Anything change for anybody else?

What would I gladly pay for? Amongst other things:
- June 1997
- MSG '98 shows
- September 2000 box set (the bigger the better, I'll pay)
- Dec. 2000 MSG shows
- Solid 2002 or 2004 shows

2002 or VFC 2004 would be solid.
