A much better full listen than what I was expecting. A lot of these '80s albums are one good popular track and a bunch of generic synth with bad melodies. This was not one of them.

I think Big Country must be an under-appreciated band. I only know a few songs, but they're really great songs. I should probably look further into them.

Still a good/great album, particularly the last half.

Hope we get a follow-up before year's end.

Agreed on all points. If it hadn't been overshadowed by the release debacle, I think it would have gotten a lot more respect.

My sisters were 5 years older than me, so naturally a heavy music influence. My oldest sister especially. She was into U2 in 1983 or so, so naturally I was as well even though I was only nine. This was right after War and around when Under a Blood Red Sky came out and videos from Red Rocks were on MTV once an hour (so it was a big deal for me to finally get there last year). So I am old school, I thought All You Can't Leave Behind was great, but haven't dug a lot of other more recent things.

I haven't listened to this, but will today.

I haven't been a big fan of most of most of their output since All That You Can't Leave Behind either. Atomic Bomb has its moments, but I thought No Line was pretty weak, overall. Songs of Innocence has a few stinkers too, but it's got several of the best songs they've done in a long time on it, especially on the second half that gweeps mentioned. Raised by Wolves actually sounds a whole lot like Boy/War era U2.

I was thinking while I was listening to it that he's due for a new one.
