Blew me away in a one year Post Stand Up concert...
Especially when you look at the garbage N2 set from the year before

That encore is as bad as it gets... Yes, I would take The Whiskey/Shake Me over that.

There's the 8/7/98 one which closed the show. Talk about a random encore.

I remember being stunned, leaving that show vowing to never see another DMB show again.

Then I went to a show 5 days later and got this:

Spoiler:
April 10, 2002
First Union Center, Philadelphia, PA

What Would You Say
Raven
Too Much
The Space Between
Grey Street
When the World Ends
You Never Know
I Did It
Grace Is Gone
The Stone
Lie in Our Graves
If I Had It All
Drive In Drive Out
Big Eyed Fish »
Bartender »
Heartbeat Intro »
Pantala Naga Pampa »
Rapunzel
-----------------------------------
Where Are You Going
Don't Drink the Water

I just looked up that Bryce Jordan show and you're all leaving Funny How Time Slips Away off the encore for some reason.
That definitely makes it better.

It does, it's way better than some of the others involving Sister, Thank You and Bayou, etc.

BUT, in retrospect, put yourself at that show in Spring, 2002. Fans felt like Everyday was a nut punch and were hoping '02 would be different. The first show in DC, you get Raven, Busted Stuff, Fishtender, Grace, Drive In Drive Out and the return of Pig. Then, the next night, a bunch of repeats, the tour debuts of 2 more Everyday songs, then, you're thinking "okay, here comes the encore!" and you get Funny How Time Slips Away (which was played a ton in 2001), The Space Between and I Did It. The main set was really good but the encore left me thinking "what just happened?"

Yeah in that context, I get it. Not ideal.

Honestly, I don't remember them playing it. Unless it was E1 and then the dreaded two happened.

Yeah, I remember that now. Put the whole thing out of my memory. What an atrocious way to end a show.

Really good on paper, but even better on tape. The Sugar Will The Stone stretch is really mesmerizing.
