Only been played 3x and hasn't been played in 12 shows. Was hoping to catch it Blossom or Noblesville

Since this thread's last post, Cry Freedom has been played an additional:

13 times full band
3 times D&T
1 Dave solo

Theyíre not into a lot of others that fall into the quiet song spot. This is just better than all of those.

No question.

Song would be way better than other E1ís they do.

Iíve been listening to the studio version the past few days. I had never really paid attention to Roiís part during the choruses. The flute really adds so much. It is an added layer, not in your face, but so beautiful.

This had me thinking: is this one of their best studio versions that is not superseded live? They have some good studio tracks but most I would rather have live. Cry Freedom is a great studio track.

The emotion of it live is just amazing, especially when the crowd is good.

I definitley agree with this, Cry Freedom is a really solid studio track, and it's just a song that better suits that kind of setting and an acoustic setting more so than a full band concert.

I mentioned earlier in the thread to check out 12/22/03.

There's video here (starts 31:20 ish)
[Only registered users can see links.]

Dave is really into this performance and he sounds great. Tim has a short solo around 35:50. The crowd is really respectful, especially for an arena.

One of the best concerts I've ever attended. I hope it gets released.

This song will always be an absolute classic for sure. I've always adored the Luther College performance as well.

The version I caught in '04 (7/7/04) was phenomenal, Roi

I felt lucky to catch it not once but twice in 2010, once more Dave and Tim driven and the second one full on Coffin solo outro

In 5 shows in 2010 I actually got Cry Freedom more often than I got Ants Marching

This to me is probably the most surprising thing since Tim joined in 2008. I thought this would happen WAY before the band would ever cover songs off of Some Devil full band. Especially considering how they use to open D+F shows too. Just really mindboggling.
