I went through the Almanac and after some rough calculations determined that, minus any guest performances, Cry Freedom has only been played about 65 times full band in the 18+ years of its existence. 2003 got it 24 times.

Was that supposed to say "I wonder why?"

Because I wonder why. I remember him not playing on WAYG last year as well. These are both pretty simple songs, so it's not like he couldn't learn them quickly. Maybe they just don't want horns on certain songs. It's a shame, because Roi always sounded so nice on Cry Freedom. Jeff could have added a lot to it - maybe even on flute instead of sax.

I love Cry Freedom and I'd love to hear this full band with Tim. Only time I caught it was at Great Woods in '04 which was great... 6 years later that one time I heard this song still remains a highlight for me

Actually, it was a slightly confusing post. I think kylebond13 and myself interpreted your post as saying, "no wonder Jeff doesn't play on it," implying you had some sort of idea for a reason why he didn't.

Great stuff, thanks. I will say though I'm sad to hear Coffin sat this one out. Really missed the sax in the outro.

Re: How can they turn away? (Cry FreedomC)

Lillywhite butchered this song, but it's still a showcase of the beauty of Roi and the roots of Dave. This is one of those songs. The true dmb sound.
