I went back to look at this run of shows and totally forgot they repeated this Everyday Fake > Halloween > Water Wine at the next show. They must've enjoyed it.
Then they played Halloween at Alpine n1 right after, midset. Three consecutive shows with Halloween is pretty nuts.

What's funny is that I bet people back then complained about that encore but yeah, I mean, shows like this are never happening again now, this was pure perfection.

Reminds me back in '03 how people were so pissed that Stay and WYA were closing out encores a lot that summer. Boy, if they only knew the gems we get these days

I definitely used to bitch about What You Are closing shows. I still think it's a lousy closer.

I have now seen shows end with Shake Me

Shake Me, Bayou, Grey Street, Cornbread, YMDT have all closed shows a lot over the last few years, and I would take WYA over all of those any day of the week.

my thought, looking at this set now, is that the encore is the weak link, mostly because I'm tired of Watchtower....but that's still a "classic DMB song."

Would I prefer Two Step or PNP>Rapunzel there? Sure. But that's just nitpicking and that set is amazing.

Still love Watchtower every time I get it live, but yeah I definitely much more prefer it mid-set or closing the main set, not the whole show. Man, Holmdel '18 when they busted out mid-set the place went insane.

I probably would too, but being better than that list is saying very, very little.

Knowing Dave, he plays Watchtower mid-set then follows it up with Sister. His flow is atrocious. He's never gotten it right.

Yep, I recommended that one. One my favorite shows ever attended. Wish this would be the next live trax.

That midset Watchtower was killer. The crowd exploded. I took a video bc I was surprised by the reaction. One of those songs I’m always like eh when they start it but as soon as the band kicks in I am into it.
