Why so you guys even bother going to the store? You can order everything nowadays. I actuallly enjoy cluaterfucks usually, but the time commitment of going to the store is too much. In NYC we actually have these apps Maple, Munchery that awesome chefs cook food and deliver to your home.

Also, the point about people acting selfishly is true. My brother is a bartender and he has almost daily stories of people stealing tips. I don't understand why people act so selfishly at work. When I wasn't self-employed, people were stealing each other's lunch out of the fridge. Anyway, I see it as my personal mission to be positive. We are almost all white, male, and American. We have it pretty damn good.

Success sucks though. I remember being dirt poor and now that I've started making good money, I've become so spoiled. I really feel guilty about taking cabs when I could just take the train or always wanting to eat out. When you're struggling, you're a lot more appreciative of everything. It's also like being single vs. being in a relationship. Being in a relationship makes you totally lame. You grow a belly and your girl tells you that it's "cute". It's not.

People are way too addicted to smart phones. I make point to just look around when I'm on the subway. People are burried in their phone, unconcious.

Anyway, if you're cranky, there is a solution that will 100% work. Sit your ass down and meditate. Many will complain about their problems, but who will put in the hard work of improving themselves? You have all the tools inside yourself to be happy. Therapists just comfort people in inaction/being lazy. If you are unhappy or nervous, there's a reason for it. Your body is telling you that you need to make a change in your life. I know I sound like a dick and this probably isn't too persuasive, but this is what I really believe.

Also depression doesn't exist. The first step in change is beliefs. If you say that you are depressed, that's actually a statement about the future. How can you stop being sad if you believe that you have condition that makes you sad?

Nope, it's about changing what you think is true. If you are sad and believe that there is actually a condition that keeps you sad, then you will stay sad. If you believe that it's just a temporary thing then you have a chance of getting better

Reframing is what Tamby is referring to. It's very hard to put into practice when you're depressed but it can be a really helpful and healthy tool. It can help you break the cycle of shit thinking.

Meditation (or other types of spiritual practices) can absolutely help you build on that as well.

Speaking of meditation, does anybody here meditate and if so, how do you do it. Its something that interests me, but I don't want to pay to learn if I don't have to.

Go to the App store and download Insight Timer on your tablet or smartphone. Use a good pair of headphones. Find a guided mediation and get started. I'd recommend a meditation that focuses on the breath to start.

The Headspace app also offers a free 10 day trial called Take 10 that teaches basic meditation.

Dhamma.org. I did the 10 day meditation retreat in 2013, completely free. It was the most difficult thing I've done in my life but also the most helpful

I'm torn on this - he brings up a couple good points that I've found to be true. I don't think he's here to help people though.
