Ok, so... Speaking of travel.

Flying out to Raleigh on Friday for FarmAid. If anyone is familiar with the area, a handy few restaurant suggestions would be much appreciated.

Do it, it is a ton of fun, I know they send the engine all over the country. In PA they have a lot of other stuff to do like smaller trains and a whole area with toys and tracks and my oldest goes crazy in there. When we went in the summer they told us that Percy was coming too, so of course we are going to see both trains. Plus they have a Train museum right across the street, and we get to mock the Amish and their buggys as we drive around

Five Star restaurant in Raleigh's warehouse district. It's a take on modern Chinese and located "off the beaten path" from downtown Raleigh. Their signature Heat Seeker shrimp is fucking amazing.

Aer Lingus, which I used to fly to Europe in April, has their Winter fares up. I highly recommend them. Some great round trip New York/Boston to Ireland flights for under $650, or New York/Boston to the rest of Europe (Scotland, Britain, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Amsterdam, Spain, Rome) for under $850. Flights out of Chicago to the same spots are running for under $1,000 and from San Francisco for ~$1,000.

I have pretty much 0 interest in traveling to Europe again. I've already been to Italy (I'd go back there in a heartbeat though). It's not that Europe isn't a cool place to travel, I'm just way more fascinated by places like Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, & Latin American countries. Enormous and modern cities are a huge draw for me, which is why I really want to go to Japan.

Next time I travel, I imagine I'll be more in the mindset of going somewhere to do some charity work, instead of a vacation. I just don't know what Europe has to offer for me. Has anyone done secular charity work overseas?

Booking a flight to Sacramento for a wedding -- as shocking as it seems, this will be my first trip to California ever. Been all over the eastern half of the US, but never made it out to CA.

Also, because airline travel is the worst, I'm flying out of Columbus, OH (2hr drive) because flights are nearly $300 cheaper there than Cincinnati.

The lady and I have been participating in the 52-week challenge and will have $1,378 each to spend on our (hopefully) yearly vacation that we're planning for the day after the Super Bowl. We're looking for the best bang for our buck, so I guess we should consider an all-inclusive, but we're definitely not interested in cruises. Any ideas folks?

If you have the time, rent a car and drive to Tahoe (about 2 hours from Sac), and to San Fran (a little less than 2 hours in the other direction). Sacramento is nice, but it's not a very good representation of Cali. You need to see the mountains and ocean to get the true feel.

One of my friends is looking into Nashville in early december for her 30th bday (it'd likely be her, me, my gf, and three other friends.) Thoughts and suggestions welcome. I'm guessing flying would be easier, since that's a bitch of a ride from PA in the winter.

Where should we stay/go?

Nash-vegas is always a good time...GOBS of awesome music/bars to hear it.

Not sure if you're a Steelers fan (being from PA and all), but they play the Titans on MNF on 11/17, that'd be a great time for sure.

If anyone tells you to check out a place called "Printers Alley," disregard any additional advice they give you.
