They cut Jimi Thing for Granny in the encore at this Selma show. Good call.

I remember the Woodlands 2004 shows being pretty great, starting on those now. Direct intro Billies to start....that's a real punch in the shoulder to say hi and get things going. They continue with Granny and Joy Ride, then bring it down with the best possible "slow" song....Grace is Gone....complete with an excellent 'hoedown' outro.

Hell yes! My favorite show I've been two right behind my first, 9.16.00. That weekend was amazing. I've listened to this show so many times that during the intro to GIG a girl screams "I love you Dave". Fuck. I want the band back like this oh well....

Considering the show clocked in at under two hours, I'd have rather seen a longer song in the encore.

Eh, Jimi would've brought things down (even in 04, I know, I know)....Granny was a nice shot.

I love Granny in the encore, as an E1, or E2 of 3

Billies opener is a great way to start the show. Or stay, always thought they should use that more to open.

Ironically Stay has only been an opener 3 times... and closed the set or show 50+ times ( I gave up counting)

I'm cool with Stay at any spot, actually. I've really taken a liking to it over the years.

Stay was such a good opener. It doesn't make sense that it's never used in that spot.

Seems like they just get in the groove and content with opening the majority of shows with similar songs. Sometimes it seems like Dave puts a lot of thought into the setlists and then sometimes he seems like it was a last minute thing. (hence repeats, etc.)

It's all good. So Right would be a great opener. I'm also 100% in favor of a Watchtower opener.

Anyway, this Woodlands N1 show is pretty solid. Grace, Warehouse, Lover Lay Down, Typical and Best of Whats Around made for a great listen. On to night two.....

Pig from Woodlands N2 is interesting, Dave messes up the opening lyric and the band just plays a little instrumental version for the next 30 seconds or so. Good to hear this one again, I think it was only played a few times in 2004.

This show also hits me as the first one where the Joy Ride "woos" were really loud and noticeable. I'm indifferent, but I know this infuriates some.
