Yes, albeit at a small venue in Orlando. The show was excellent, I snagged a set list and can post it if you'd like.

Can you elaborate on the Ray show? I wasn't impressed with the new album, but he's always put on a good show.

Going to assume too much new stuff.

His new band blows so much (based on his media tours). What a bunch of jackasses.

Yeah, I too wasn't impressed by the new album, and I agree the past 3 times I've seen him he put on a great show (last time I saw him was at Carnegie Hall, which was probably one of my favorite shows I've ever seen).

So to elaborate a bit on why I thought the show itself sucked: I find the new songs painfully boring and as I think someone in another thread described, they're just plain cheesy, polar opposites to his other material. I'm all for a change but not at the expense of poor lyrics and uninteresting melodies, etc. Also, the new band that's playing with him mirrors the cheesiness: two keyboardists/guitarists on either side of the stage add very little real substance. His bass player is good, I'm pretty sure he was the same guy that was with him for the 2012 fall tour. And he has a chick on the drums, which is fine, but I thought it was so typical that when Ray was introducing the members at the end of the show she gets the loudest ovation. It's not a big deal but the focus wasn't on the music as much as it seemed to be an emphasis on a certain new "hip" look, which IMO fails every time.

In between songs there was almost an eerie silence in the crowd, like a collective realization that this new music is far inferior to his other stuff. During one of these silences, someone behind me pretty much summed it up by yelling "More Ray, less Black Keys." While I like most of the Black Keys stuff I've heard, in my opinion that kind of music doesn't really come close to the "heartfelt" level of Ray's other material.

Fortunately Jason Isbell is opening the Camden show.

He's always worth the price of admission.
