Gaming Thread

Shadow of the Empire..imo...is one of the best SW games made. The SW game franchise can be hit or miss, but this one was very good.

And regarding the movies, I read somewhere that a rumer exists that Lucas actually put in his will that a new trilogy will not be made. Take it for what it's worth though...could be rubbish, could be true.

That might be an advantage, so they'll let someone else write the dialog...

Everyone hate's the prequals, but I guess I am in the minority that doesn't mind them. Of course the original trilogy is better though.

Also, has anyone ever played these SW games back in the day? I have them, but never got around to them:

Are they as terrible as they look?

Hmm...I'll have to try them out one day. I've been meaning to over the years, but never got a chance. I still have to try out the Force Unleashed as well.

Yea, they are a pain in the ass - but they are made really well. I need to revisit them someday soon.

Like Nick said, they're a throwback to when video games were almost senselessly difficult -- lots of random enemies flying at you / shooting at you, tons of platforming jumps with death plunges in between, endless stages with no save points, etc. The only "break" you get in the game is that they start letting Skywalker use force powers (levitate being the most useful) in the middle of Super Empire -- but you still have to use Han, Chewie and Leia for the other parts of the game and they get no such benefit.

Empire does have a really cool faux-3D snowspeeder level, which is probably the first time someone captured the awesomeness that is "go for the legs, it might be our only chance of stopping them" in a video game.

Overall, I thought they were really well-done games (controls were tight, graphics were good, gameplay was solid) -- just hard as hell.

Jedi was significantly easier than the other two. But still, one of my favorite games was Jedi Knight 2. Nothing beat playing online multiplayer with friends with created skins.

Sweet, I have the games so I will definitely get to them one day. Thanks for the review of them

On a related note, the Star Wars saga is so badass and great SW games have come out over the years.

Nintendo is announcing their next console this summer at E3. HD (finally) and rumored Blu-ray drive.
