Official John Mayer Rocks My Fucking Socks Thread

I'm still finding the words to describe the show last night so for now I'll just allow you to hear for yourself and say this:

oh my fucking god.

I'm Gonna Find Another You

Is the whole show going to be posted somewhere?

It's been a while since I've gotten a Mayer tape.

Yeah I'm gonna upload it to my server tonight and then it'll be torrented later when Crumbo gets back home.

Yeah, I am a big fan of his. I do wish that the Trio guys were with him (along with the rest of the band) though, as his drummer sucks, and that really detracts from the performances for me.

Still, though, I'm gonna check out that tape, no doubt.

Nice! I need to see him again. Last time I saw him was at "Jammin on Maine" in Cincinnati in '03 I think.

I haven't seen him since 2004 and I really need to get back.

Now, if only I knew where I would be in June after graduation, that would be great.

Listening to Man On The Side right now, what a tune.

Slow Dancing In A Burning room is probably my favorite song right now.

Saw Mayer on Tuesday night in DeKalb. Great show

Oh, and DMBc: David Ryan Harris is playing with Mayer, which I didn't realize until I was at the show

I'm Gonna Find Another You is what he closed with and you could just tell he didn't want to stop playing. I just can't explain how crazy good that playing was on that song. It went on and on. Moved the song far up my list of favorites!

i remember i paid $10 to see him at the old HoB in Cambridge back in '01. he was supposed to open for stephen kellogg but because of the weather he never showed up so john played the entire time. there were maybe 25 people there. it was a fun show.

We grabbed a set from the lighting booth and I was skeptical when I saw gravity was closing the set, cause I didn't realize they fucking rocked it. Soo good

hehe... my bad! it was strange - he gave my friend his sweaty wife beater after the show. he was at the bar having some drinks and he had taken it off and just handed it to her. i wonder if she still has it?

those were fun times back in '00 - '02 being able to see his solo shows (and when he played with his bass player) and howie day and others at such small venues for such small prices.

Okay I love Mayer and all but I don't think I'd have accepted that sweaty tank. ick.

yeah... we were all kind of weirded out by it. she didn't ask for it - he just handed it to her when we were talking to him.

speaking of fans, i saw this on perezhilton.com about an interview he did. like the guy or not, being honest is one of his traits and i thought it was pretty insightful and cool to read:

Quote:
Of particular contention is the following exchange:

TONY: [Awkward pause] So, what about Jessica? According to Extra, you can't deny you're a couple anymore.

John Mayer: I don't think I've ever denied it. When did I deny it? I'm having the best time of my life, so if the names don't make sense to people, that's so small to me.

TONY: Do you feel like your fans are wondering, What the hell?

John Mayer: Here's the thing: Most artists at one point or another hit a point where they divorce themselves from their fans.

TONY: They get bloated.

John Mayer: The all-you-can-eat salad bar.

TONY: I meant metaphorically--artistically bloated.

John Mayer: That, too. It can be a lot of things: drugs, the wrong people, self-importance. I really do believe you can be a quote-unquote media figure and stay connected to your fans-- that's what's great about having a blog--like, here's me, here's my sensibility unchanged, and if I'm saying I'm still me and then you see me with somebody in a picture more than once, you have to assume they're a great person and that I haven't--

TONY: Morphed into a douche bag?

John Mayer: Exactly. I'm the same douche bag I've always been.

nice debbie! seems like they do a lot of free showcases there. that david gray solo show from there (1/19/01) is one of my absolute favorites.
