Strange things to find on the floor of a men’s room toilet stall:

A plastic fork with three non-sequential tines broken off. The tines are not present. There is no reason that is conceivable to me that would adequately explain this. It bothers me much more than it should.

So I started a part time job valeting cars in the morning. Today was my first day. Good lord is it exhausting. But it's really good exercise.

Just have to get everyone else to write the correct spots on peoples claim tickets!

Isn’t that like...the first thing?

I pictured you in that hat you posted last week pulling a Ferris Bueller’s valet

That would be great, but it wouldn't go well with my uniform. Which thankfully is just black polo and black pants.

I love the bit Jim Gaffigan did about checking into the St Regis.

"Do you need help with your backpack sir?"

"No, but heres $5. Sorry you have to dress like Captain Crunch"

So I've lived in my house for 4 years now.....I haven't thought about this since right now and it's driving me insane. I have a flood light over my garage, didn't work when we moved in and I don't have the knowledge to really mess with electricity.... I'm considering buying a new one and hiring an electrician or handyman to install it. That said, I didn't even consider that there should be a switch to operate the existing one somewhere, but there isn't, that I know of. We have one switch in our dining room that does nothing, I'm REALLY curious now to know if that's the one the original builder wired to the flood light, but I wouldn't know because I'm guessing the existing flood light is either dead or the lights are long since burnt out.

Maybe there’s a sensor inside the light that automatically turns it on/off? The switch in your dining room does something. It may just even turn electricity to an outlet on/off. My house is 80+ years old and there’s a ton of wacky stuff people have done over the years. Good luck.

Is there a door from your dining room to the garage? If there is, I'd guess that would be the switch. In my childhood home we had a floodlight for the backyard. It was across the yard from the driveway. We had the switch inside the house by the backdoor to the yard. Only other thing I can think is, if you have a light in your garage, the switch for the light might also operate the floodlight. Good luck!

Sometimes they add switches so it's easy to add a ceiling fan in the future. That could be what the dining room switch is for.

I will second the automatic light or motion sensor question. My last house had a flood that was on a sensor, it had no manual switch to turn it off.

It's on a sensor, yeah, so it may not have a switch....that's the most likely answer. Thanks for the tips, it'll be interesting to see how things play out when I eventually get to the bottom of all that stuff. The potential ceiling fan switch also makes sense.

Nope, I've got an electrician coming on Saturday to give me an estimate on putting a new flood light in and getting baseboard heat in the basement. Hoping he can shed a little light (figuratively) on the issue. I'll report back.
