Just took a look over there and someone caught the original poster lying about the dates and times of the email correspondence.

Agreed but Coran called a random person and he posted the whole story in the WH too. We know they monitor that so if he is making it up and posting there, you would think they would delete it.

Odd that WH didn't delete it if fake but the op also has a solid explanation from what I saw, time zone differences which add up

They could just cut and paste that email and make it their official response if it where true, yea? Why just send it to one random in an email? Someone get confiscate his hard drive!

How is that dumb?
It's fact. When they started out they had what (lets says for discussion) 20 songs??
So playing a cover like Watchtower was a good filler song.
Now they have (let's say for discussion) 150 songs. If you need to fill shows with covers and you have that many songs to pick from, it's sad

“Need”? Maybe, I don’t know, they WANT to play a cover or two now and then. Just a theory.

A lot of artists like playing covers. It’s not a DMB thing. Tom Petty played covers all the time.

It is still fact that they don't need to be doing covers, or relying on the like they did when they didn't have songs to pick from.
Imo learning new covers is a waste. "Learn" your own songs, ones that people actually would go ape shit to see instead.

if you are going to do covers, fine, but the shows where they do three or even four - bs imo

Of course they don’t need them. They don’t need to play Time Bomb either yet sometimes they just want to.

Did they have a few shows where they went overboard? You could say it that but it’s not the standard.

The problem with DMB covers is that so few of them feel like they fit orthat the band put much effort into doing more than replicating the original song. There are definitely exceptions, but for the most part, I don’t have a lot of interest in DMB playing a song that doesn’t sound like DMB.
