it didn't look like something i was interested in, but the overwhelming positive reviews have me curious. i think anderson is pompous and overrated though. bottle rocket and royal tenenbaums are the only films of his i thought were exceptional.

I do like Wes Anderson, but I can only take some much Indie-quirkiness. F Mr. F does look great though.

the hype surround the acting in precious is legit - especially considering it's the lead actress' first role.

so are a lot of other actors and musicians. that should have no impact on how you view their work. and giving great performances isn't fishing for oscars, it's simply earning them. he stole the show from denzel in American Gangster.

I've, personally, never been blown away by a Russel Crowe performance. And American Gangster was a snoozefest.

american gangster was a product of bad marketing and people thinking it would be a mafia action fest. i loved it for what it actually was, a low key biopic.

I watched in on DVD well after its theatrical release, so I knew what it was going into it.
