![]() For anyone who wants instant goosebumps, listen to the audience recording of the first show back in 12/86 after Jerry's diabetic coma (hi greykitkat), when Jerry sings the "hand me my old guitar..." line. In the clip below that starts at about thee 5:00 mark. (The Touch of Grey opener does the same thing, but this one more-so for me). Quote:

Video of the full 12/15/86 show is on YouTube synched to SBD audio, which is good, but you don't get that audience reaction during those Touch of Grey and Candyman lines. But it's great to see Jerry triumphantly sing that Candyman line (1:04:00 in).

They are haunting...
I still dont understand how i went in this massive circle of following around Dmb, phish, Lotus for years and doing lots and lots of festivals, but avoided them in ways becuase it seemed daunting... But god they r good and its soo fucking refreshing. Some of the lines both music and words i cant get out of my mind at times... |

Yup. A lot of what he's putting out there nowadays are additional sources of shows that already circulate, and they're not always necessarily upgrades, but usually seem to be.

Received mine early. Mix is good. I'm a little underwhelmed about the performances, however. Maybe it's because we had the May 77 box set released and it's still pretty fresh in my head. Everything on this show is already played much better in that set.

![]() IIRC, the Scarlet>Fire in set 2 has a nice transition but I think Jerry flubs Fire a bit. Good Truckin late in the set. Haven't listened to it in a while. |

I’ve warmed up on second listen. This Truckin’ is indeed smoking. Love the Mexicali transition.

John Mayer stated in 2013 that there would be an upswing in Grateful Dead music and a renewed interest.

Got my flight, hotel, and tickets for the Boulder tour closers. I'm excited for another summer of Dead & Co (+ the NOLA show in a few weeks)

Wish I'd pull the trigger on the NOLA show.

I have an unhealthy obsession with this recent Dicks Pick.

I've been delving into a bunch of shows from '87 on youtube recently, and it's really made me appreciate the late 80s dead like never before. I could do without all the dylan songs and some of the song selection, but the band is playing really tight and Jerry sounds great, which is something that really comes and goes in these later era shows. Most of what I've heard is pretty smoking.
