Dave is the weak link on this release. The band actually sounds great and the guest spots are awesome. But there are a handful of songs where Dave sounds pretty brutal.
Another reason why Iím against the band continuing to do long 45-50 show tours. At this poIsnít in their career and with Daveís age, his voice just simply canít withstand that kind of schedule anymore. Even with a vocal coach helping him out and trying to keep his voice in shape it only goes so far. Usually his voice gets shot halfway through those big tours now. The Dave and Tim tour was a good amount. 20-25 shows would be ideal I think to maintain a high level.

Am I the only one who's listened to this? Surprised nobody's saying anything about it. I think it's a pretty interesting release overall. One of the reasons being that it represents nothing I think of when I think of the 6 shows I saw in 2016. No new songs, a bunch of guests, The Maker, The Stone, ODH, IOY, BDTH, SDL, WAYG, R&R, Maker, Typical and Stay (all of which were not played much at all that year). The nice thing is that the band sounds great, and Dave's guitar is turned up louder at points than I typically hear on modern releases. Tim's guitar is also off to the side a bit more, making it less prevalent in the sound. I like it.
But damn, I just wish Dave's voice was better. Really takes away from the show overall.

I haven't heard it yet but dude, eventually people will realize how good of a tour 2016 was. It was truly one of the best tours of 3.0 I believe. Yes there were a lot of stale, "going through the motion" sets, but you can say that about a lot of years. The band was playing great this entire summer, and yeah Dave's voice just couldn't make it through the whole tour. Once again, wish they released SPAC instead for this reason. Shows just as good with a better Dave vocal. And I agree, this show doesn't really give a good take of 2016 as a whole because it's very different for the reasons you mentioned.

I've listened to pretty much the whole release. Tough one to sit through when DMB 3.0 is not your thing...

Mix is pretty good, though....

Wow, they totally killed LIOG here (and not in a good way)

FASTER!!!! LOUDER!!!!!!!!!

I haven't enjoyed my listen very much, through two discs. I don't mind the style change much. What now bothers me is Dave's vocal delivery. Not even the voice. He's changing way too much. Singing behind the beat, changing rhythms, cadences, adding words, etc. It's the type of thing that was cool when it was one line in a song, but it's distracting. You can't even sing along with it to yourself in the car.

The Say Goodbye was atrocious. He has no confidence in singing it any more and trying to replicate the passion he used to sing it with while reading every line - Bad!

I liked the start of the show, but then it turned. Granted I still have good songs left to listen to.

I asked Daveís vocal coach why he changed up his delivery. Weíll see if he responds. It doesnít bother me personally, for his age and how long theyíve been touring, I still think he sounds good.

Couldnít agree more. Daveís vocals have definitely been a problem. And I agree that he sounds like he has no confidence most of the time. Itís not the biggest problem and not the main one to me, but itís definitley factor and an issue as this band moves forward.
