He has an almost endless list of radio hits that everyone knows. Same with bands like the Eagles, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, etc.

DMB has 2 or 3. I don't think they could even make it as a nostalgia band.

I know. That was the core reasoning behind my rebuttal to Tomacco.

To be fair, DMB has more than just 2 or 3, but yeah they don't come close to those other bands mentioned. Phish and The Dead don't even have 2 or 3 radio hits and they still sell out places. It's not like it can't be done. DMB is not a "nostalgia act" quite yet. They just need to do something inventive or innovative to revitalize their career right now.

I'm there for the nostalgia, no doubt. I don't need any new material.

I'd be perfectly happy if DMB went full out 90's nostalgia act and played Las Vegas a handful times a year for some number of nights like Britney or Boys II Men. It probably get me to see more shows than I do now.

I could see Dave and Tim doing that. Not sure about the rest of the band though.

DMB will be most successful if they follow the Phish model. Innovative setlists and multi-night stands at popular venues. We’ll see if they’re willing to put in the work.

They need to play better, too. Overall it’s been pretty sloppy the last few years.

Totally agreed. No need for full scale tours that will just tire them out and make it feel like a job. I think they could start simply with just a lot less shows (like they did with D+T this summer). 20-22 shows, mostly multi-nighters (SPAC, Gorge, Camden, whatever etc.) and just do less repeats. It's not that hard, really. I think when they're just doing the on the road grind they get into that lazy coasting mode and just don't take the time to bust stuff out as much. It works. Less shows = more demand which in turn makes it just more special and feel like every show matters more. I just don't know how many fans will travel like they do for Phish. Like I don't think they could pull off a Baker's Dozen and and come close to selling out more than even 2 or 3 nights.
