I love that. I'm not usually a "jam" kind of guy, but with Neil I make an exception. You can just totally get lost in some of these longer excursions. He's one of the few where you feel like it's all instinct, as opposed to any thought process behind it. Sometimes that makes for shitty work, but when it does work, it's outstanding.

Confirming what's been rumored for months now, Neil Young announced that, yes, he has a new album with Crazy Horse in the pipeline. It's called Americana, it's due out June 5, and it's the first Neil Young album with the full Crazy Horse lineup since 1996's Broken Arrow. So, yay! But not so fast. This being a Neil Young project, there has to be at least a little perversity: Americana consists of classic folk songs like "Tom Dooley," "Oh Susannah," and "This Land Is Your Land"—as well as Britain's national anthem "God Save The Queen," which dodges the Americana concept of the LP a bit—performed (here it comes) "with a very young choir of children," Young told Rolling Stone. "They're songs we all know from kindergarden, but Crazy Horse has rearranged them, and they now belong to us." Young has favored the backing of unprofessional choirs of late, especially on 2006's Living With War, to mixed-at-best success. So, at the very least, we're intrigued by this album, if also a little less excited. But hey, it's Neil Young and Crazy Horse! Check out a tracklist below.
"Oh Susannah"

"Clementine"

"Tom Dooley"

"Gallows Pole"

"Get A Job"

"Travel On"

"High Flyin’ Bird"

"She’ll Be Comin ’Round The Mountain"

"This Land Is Your Land"

"Wayfarin’ Stranger"

"God Save The Queen"

Just Neil bein' Neil.

I have a feeling it'll either be completely awesome or completely awful. Or both.

Aren't there rumors that he has two albums in the works with Crazy Horse? The last thing I heard was that there was an original album and cover album coming.

I seem to always say it but it's so true, Prairie Wind is such and overlooked album of his. "The Painter" and "It's A Dream" are two absolutely gorgeous songs and two of my personal favorite tunes by anyone.

Neil Young And Crazy Horse have announced a new record, Psychedelic Pill, to be released Oct. 30 as a double CD, followed by a triple-LP release on Nov. 23. Recorded right after Americana, which found the reunited group covering old folk standards, the band's first album of original material in nearly a decade was produced by John Hanlon, Mark Humphreys, and Young himself, and comes in at a tight eight tracks—though three of those tracks are each more than 16 minutes long.

One song's about a half hour long.

Neil's one of the only people that can get away with that and make it good.
