Live Trax Vol. 55: Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre

In the spring of 2009, right before the official release of Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King, DMB embarked on a lengthy touring schedule throughout the US and Europe. New tunes like Funny the Way It Is and Why I Am made their live debut and held their own next to DMB classics such as Everyday and Rhyme & Reason, the latter featuring Joe Lawlor on electric guitar. This show from Alpharetta, GA also captures the live debut of Beach Ball and the rare, full band rendition of Rye Whiskey. The energy throughout this show feels fresh and the band was clearly ready to share new material with the fans all summer long.

Track List:
1 Everyday
2 So Damn Lucky
3 You Might Die Trying
4 Spaceman
5 Satellite
6 Recently
7 Funny the Way It Is
8 Crash Into Me
9 Rye Whiskey
10 Why I Am
11 Rhyme & Reason
12 Beach Ball
13 Jimi Thing
14 So Much To Say > Anyone Seen The Bridge?
15 Tripping Billies
16 Two Step
17 The Maker
18 Stay (Wasting Time)

Yeah this one doesnt look great. Im surprised at the pick being a 2009, but also that its this show from the spring.

Wheres Blue Water? Where's Dreaming Tree? Wheres Raven? Wheres Recently? Those are the things i think of when i think of Spring 2009. Beach Ball is nice, but i dont know if that saves the set. I dont understand this show at all.

Dumbest management team of all time? DMBs management is awful.

This is not even a show I have interest of listening to on tape for free. Do they really expect people to drop $20 on this? I have no problem with the tour they choose, but it’s so easy to find a much better show on this tour. 4/20/09 comes to mind.

lolz.

There were some good shows on this tour too. off the top of my head MSG or Vandy would have been solid pics. This is like they went to the almanac main page for the Spring '09 tour and said, "rarest show of the tour? Cool. Pick that." Did they even look at the set? Hot garbage.

It's really insane. They actually chose this show to release? What is wrong with this organization?!

This band does a really good job at knowing how to make their fan base become even more disinterested

Yeah, the right Spring '09 release would have been tempting, but this ain't it.

The wrong choice, but Spring 2009 was an awesome tour. Went to the Texas shows + Vegas.

I listened to that full-band Rye Whiskey and that Beach Ball a lot back in Spring 09.

MSG 09 would've been better. Or Cville.

Good god that’s awful. I know the Phish comparisons are tired across these forums, but look at the quality of archival releases from them this past year vs. what DMB chooses to release. Brutal.

Including Sirius which I get that you aren't buying - but is freely available to you, we've done pretty well this past year.

They shouldn’t even release the damn thing. Come up with something better from the spring of 2009 for the love of god. You have a month for the redo lol

I was there and this show was awesome. Not sure how to describe it because on paper this looks mediocre but I'll certainly be buying this one.

FYI, its the #1 rarity show for the Spring '09. Be mindful of what was being played that tour vs. what this set has to offer. Too Much Fake-->Billies--> Two Step was rare, 2 song debuts

Iíll definitely concede on the SiriusXM releases - theyíve been great. But these LT releases are baffling really.

I feel like I'll enjoy the show more than the setlist suggests. From what I remember, Spring 09's performances were really really good.
