What was the point of American Baby Intro?

I feel like "completed songs" was basically antithetical to the Stand Up approach...

I do not definitively know the answer to this... but my assumption was always that the only real appearance of his work was in that "grux" intro and the "#35" outro to the album... I think everything else was coffin

Yeah the vast majority is coffin.

If you want to get into it, Roi plays on Can’t Stop and IOY on Come Tomorrow.

Stand Up was the last album that Roi was in the studio for and was a full time member of DMB.

Roi is on Grux, Why I Am, Lithog, Seven and Time Bomb. Pretty sure he's also on #27 and Write a Song (there's a clip of him playing on a similar piece in one of the BW docs). He may be in the background of Shake Me and You & Me, but I dunno.

The whole point of LITHOG is that Roi played those sax lines and DMB wrote a song over the top of it. Its a pretty damn good one too.

I dont truly mind it its a fresh spin on the song that probably got a bit stale by the end anyways. That is probably what led to them dropping it from 2012ish - 2018. Im glad they changed SOMETHING up. This is what we are asking them to do in so many other instances. If something like this happened to Grey Street this board would be dancing in the streets.

(if you were to argue that them dropping LITHOG because it was a lot of work to play then i wont disagree, but its probably what happened)

EDIT: Lastly agreed ABI sucks on its own. I have no idea why dave was blowing his voice out in 07 for this song. What Gweeps mentioned is interesting, id never heard that before. I dont fully understand it because he never makes his point but maybe that is the point?

Speaking of LITHOG, I just watched LITHOG from the warmup series. It was a 2015 performance, and everything is really good, but they decided to put the lovely ladies on the song. I mean why DMB?

Why bring them back in the first place after 13 years without an appearance?
