All some of my favorite that are definitely in the scene.

So I just found out about Goose through their Vampire Weekend 2021 cover. Was blown away. Then when looking at albums to download, I got super confused. Most of their studio albums seem to be electronic/synth music? But the live stuff is all Phishy jamband stuff? Is this even the same band? My music site I get stuff from listed it all together. Anyone got answers for me there?

Anyway, I'm listening to their Alive and Well live album and it's great. Their songs have a lot of stupid goofy lyrics, but the jams are awesome.
Can't find any releases on vinyl but would be interested.

there's an electronic band from Europe also called goose, so a lot of people get confused by them. they only have 1 studio album called Moon Cabin, and I love it but some people don't. Alive and Well is killer, but they've gotten even better since then. They have some vinyl here: [Only registered users can see links.]

3 days left in the campaign and then you can't get it anymore

Thanks! I'll take a couple days to think about that purchase. Comes out to $61 US for me, and just deciding if I wanna pay that, for something that won't ship until May.
I imagine as they get bigger, they'll put out some proper vinyl releases.

I've been meaning to check out more of Lotus' stuff. Do you have any recommendations?

I don't know much about Billy Strings other than this youtube clip:

And also that Bela played a few shows with him a few years ago.

Pigeons are so great.

Ok so I just watched/listened to that whole 2021 performance. Just...wow. This is going to be in heavy rotation for me, probably for a long time.

Lotus - If you have a nugs.net account, check out any of their Red Rocks shows, they tend to bring it a little extra at those shows.

Billy Strings has two albums under his belt, Home and Turmoil & Tinfoil. Both are excellent, but Home is probably my fav of the two. His live stuff is fantastic which can also be found on Nugs. He also tends to guest a lot with many other bands so keep an eye out for those guest spots too. He's doing a series of six live streams in a couple weeks called the Deja Vu Experiment that looks like it's gonna have a heavy Dead vibe too it:

The first and last nights will be free on twitch but the other four nights will be PPV.

Vampire Weekend just put out a new EP and one of the tracks is Goose doing a 20+ minute version of 2021 from Father of the Bride.

And it’s quite good.

Checking out some of Billy's stuff. Stumbled upon this String Cheese Incident cover. Pretty sweet.

I would just like to thank you folks for introducing me to Goose. This band single handedly got me through the end-of-semester grading marathon I did last week. Just sublime listening that fueled me when I wanted to throw in the towel.

Also, I was supposed to see Pigeons Playing Ping Pong open for String Cheese Incident in Portland on the 4th of July. Super bummed about that COVID casualty.

Not a very well known group, Eggy, has also been in good rotation for me. Great set from 2014 and then a more recent set:

Saw these guys at an After party of the Pigeons/Goose show in 2019. Enjoyed them quite a bit.

I haven't seen SCI in quite a while. Became a fan after I saw them open for the Flecktones in 1998, then bought their newly released record that year "Round The Wheel" and just fell in love with their mix of folk, rock, jam, and bluegrass and they had this fun and carefree quirky approach and they never seemed to take themselves too seriously. Nershi's playing on acoustic is so fucking crisp. Also remember long ago on the boards people wanting Kang to replace Boyd.
