DMB 9.4.00
AmSouth Amphitheatre Antioch, TN 1. One Sweet World - Beautiful Roi Solo on the classic intro; energetic opener 2. Satellite - Satellite is Satellite 3. Rhyme & Reason - Always awesome! 4. JTR - This version has some really cool improv lyrics; very enjoyable (especially without the LL on it) 5. DDTW - Nice additions by Bela Fleck on this one 6. Grace Is Gone - Boyd has some beautiful lines on this one. I honestly forgot that he used to even play on the song. Bella's part was great too. 7. Grey Street - Holy Bela! What an awesome performance. Now this is how I remember Grey Street to be! 8. LBV - Beautiful version! Very nice duet with Matthews and Harris. Bela had nice spots as well. 9. Crash - Standard, but I like the song. 10. Jimi Thing - I miss these Dave acoustic solos. Jimi was still great back in 2000. Great version. Awesome Roi solo too! 11. Granny - Standard, but always great to hear this one. 12. STJL - Same as Granny. I will always love this song as well. 13. #41 - Awesomeness! I love then the Flecktones bust out Sojourn on this song. Great jams all around! 14. Carter & Futureman Jam - Fucking tits! I wish the band would do stuff like this more often. 15. Bartender - I've never heard Bela guest on this one, so that was unique and cool. Encore: 16. Digging A Ditch - Same as Bartender 17. Watchtower - Awesome version as well! Roi had a nasty solo and Bela was great too. Bela should be on every song when he guests. He's just that good. This version made me miss Roi a lot as well. In conclusion, this is a phenomenal show and should really be released one day. I know that September 2000 was a wonderful month for this band, so I'm going to go ahead and listen to more shows from this month in the future. Awesome pick! |

Have it loaded up, will listen this afternoon. I listened to this on the drive to Burgettstown for 8.2.02. I remember hearing an audible groan when If I Had it All started.

I guess my 9/4/00 review didn't post. Great show, the ending run with the Flecktones is aces. #41
![]() ![]() We need a release of a 2000 Grey Street with Bela. Those are some of the best performances around. |

Dave Matthews Band
7.29.02 (Night 2) Saratoga Performing Arts Center Saratoga Springs, NY 1. Pig - Very passionate version. 2002 Pigs were on fire! 2. Warehouse - Ahh... the woos during the stop-time intro. I forgot about that actually. Warehouse is always awesome. 3. Grey Street - The 3rd verse! Spring and Summer 2002 Grey Streets were all awesome versions. I truly miss the way this song used to be more than any other song. This version made me so happy to hear. 4. Proudest Monkey - Roi Roi Roi! He was on fire on this performance. Miss you Roi. 5. Satellite - Satellite is Satellite, but Dave nailed the falsetto parts very well on this version. Nice job David. 6. Don't Drink The Water - There was a slight lyric flub in the second verse. Another passionate performance. 2002 was a good year for this don't as well. 7. One Sweet World - As I also mentioned on my 9.4.00 review, I really miss the OSW intro. It's classic DMB and that really is missing on this song these days. Pre-2004 versions were awesome. Solid performance. 8. If I Had It All - I haven't listened to a live version of this song in many years. Pretty standard version, which isn't necessarily bad, but it didn't do much for me to be honest. I'll listen to the amazing LT version eventually. 9. Kit Kat Jam - Awesome fun version! I really enjoyed Dave's improv lyrics on this one. I often wonder why he didn't lay down lyrics on the studio version. 10. #41 - Solid performance! Roi was on fire and Butch had a great Sojourn of Arjuna interpolation during his solo. The Everyday outro had extended improv lyrics at the end as well. Great stuff. 11. I Did It - How do you follow up from a beautiful performance of #41? With I Did It of course...You sure did it David. You sure did. 12. Raven - Nice rebound David! Roi had some really nice fills on this one. 13. Loving Wings - This song is always a pleasure to listen to. Miss Roi. 14. Where Are You Going - WAYG is WAYG 15. So Right - Roi takes his solo with a different brass instrument. Was it the baritone sax instead of the soprano sax? This is the first time that I have noticed this change. Always a great live song to listen to. 16. Ants Marching - Interestingly enough, no segue here. A direct into into Ants as a matter of fact. This kind of killed the momentum of the two songs, but it's not the biggest deal in the world. Nice falsettos by Dave. Encore: (The infamous SPAC '02 encore) 17. Dancing Nancies (solo) - What an awesome and rare moment. After so many teases of different sections of this song, Dave finally brought it back for the first time since 2000. It was a great performance as well. Vocals were on and the delivery had emotion behind it. A very cool moment. 18. Everyday (tease) --> Two Step (chants) --> Two Step - In one of those very rare moments in DMB history, the band actually listened to the crowd and caved in. This would haunt them in the subsequent years, as the SPAC crowd would attempt to make this a trend each year after, but it was definitely an interesting and unique moment in SPAC history. I love the jazzy versions of Two Step back in those days. Both Carter and Butch were so in sync with each other. In conclusion, this whole show was awesome and on fire! The band musicianship was spot on and inspired, the setlist is absolutely incredible, and I really got a warm happy feeling after the show ended. I would love for this show to see a proper release one day. I think the overall fanbase would really enjoy it, as there is something for everyone in this show. |

Looking at the printed setlist for that night, GIG was originally slotted to follow #41. That would have been much more fluid. Proudest Monkey was added and obviously the encore was totally changed.

Yea GIG would have been great too. It could have replaced IIHIA or IDI.

It's pretty crazy to think a dmb staple like nancies was almost completely absent in 01 and didn't comeback until the summer of 02. And it was really barley even played in 2000 and 1999 (at dmb shows)

Haven't listened to this show in a decade at least. Enjoying having a listen now. This version of Proudest Monkey is way better than I remember. Roi goes off big time.
