In terms of straight performances, 2002 has got to be up there, at least for me. They took the best parts of their approach from 99-00 and adapted them into a more energetic performance style, and it worked wonders. 00, 02 and 08 are all in top running for the best performance years of the band in the past decade, I think.

Yea, the band was so tight back in 2002. They just nailed it performance wise.

I never would have listened to this show on my own. I've always preferred Spring and Summer '02 to the Fall and this show didn't do much to change my mind. It had it's ups and downs. Butch was a bit overpowering at times. This Captain is rough. I did enjoy OSW and Seek Up. GiG seemed way too slow and plodding but then Roi's solo hit and I loved it. Hearing them essentially tease Halloween and then go into WAYG must have been a kick in the nuts. I did enjoy Stefan teasing Halloween in the Watchtower intro. I can't call this encore anything but "meh" though.

Oh it most certainly isn't a release-worthy show, but I think it's most definitely notable that it was one of those shows where Dave earned his money. And this Seek Up, especially the climatic outro with Carter and Butch, is just unstoppable.

Is there a reason why my browser will allow me to log onto dreamingtree? Every time I enters in my username and password, it doesn't accept it for some reason.

Fall tours are a gamble. Seems like there's always a stretch where Dave's as sick as a dog and you never know when it's going to happen. MSG '10 N2 was fun as hell to be at but Dave's voice made for some rough stretches that night.

I don't think he was sick that night. I think he admitted to the crowd that he had "too much fun" the night before.

I went to Mansfield University in north-central PA so if Bryce Jordan Center didn't have a show the Blue Cross Arean was the next closest venue at the time. This show was memorable for me because it was the only time I ever met a member of the band. We walked around the back where all the tour buses were and saw Carter get onto a bus so we got a little closer and out pops....Stefan. Yeah, that was when I first realized he had a gay slur.
The Halloween tease was exactly that and I was hoping it would build up to something more....like in the encore, which ended up being piss poor. Good memories for throwing up in beer cups and college times. |

Very true. We lucked out with Boston N1 (and N2).

The Halloween tease didn't bug me that night. I was expecting it to be exactly what it was because they did the same thing two nights before.

Except I only went to N2. Like I said, it's a gamble.

Not a bad pick. Time to break out that Scambro tape.

So are we definitely doing 7/3/03? I checked and I don't have the Scambro source anymore which is a shame. Good tape except for that awful splice in DIDO/PFWYG
