if you were wanting to watch The West Wing then Sports Night is a pretty good substitute.
AMC's big 3 shows are on there (Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead) if you haven't seen any of those yet. |

Rescue Me and Damages are both really good too.
and if you're into sci-fi/horror i'd recommend going through Buffy, Angel, and Firefly. Firefly especially is a real quick watch, only like 12 or 13 episodes. |

I've heard great things about Breaking Bad - I'll have to try out that and Sport's Night. My husband and I are currently watching Mad Men together, but very slowly. I'm always tempted to jump ahead and not tell him.

Breaking Bad will hook you something fierce so i recommend only starting that if you're prepared to waste a ton of time on it.

i wish they'd add The West Wing though, it's a show i feel like watching random episodes of all the time and it would be nice to delete the 50 gigs of space the series takes up off of my hard drive. plus, they have a shitload of other NBC shows new and old so i don't know what the deal is.

oh god how could i forget, you all should be watching The Larry Sanders Show.
i'm on my second run through this year alone and it's up there with the likes of Seinfeld. especially if you're at all familiar with/interested in Late Night shows and the state of it around the early 90's with the Leno feud and whatnot. |

oh damn, the british Shameless is up now.
i also highly recommend Saxondale. Steve Coogan's never really done it for me but he's incredible as that character. |

If you're looking to get really hooked into something and then immediately start cursing the creators for giving you so little of it, I highly recommend "Sherlock."
It's a 3 episode (though, each episode is about an hour and a half) TV series from the BBC that sets up Holmes and Watson in modern day London, and everything about it is fucking brilliant in ways that Guy Ritchie could never understand. |

MI:5 if you are into the spy genre. It's real title in the UK is Spooks, but for some reason it is called MI:5 in America. Seasons range from 6(S1), 8(S7-9) & 10 (S2-6)episodes. Netflix has the first 9 seasons, the 10th and final season just got done airing a few weeks ago in the UK.
Another good one on netflix is Luther , only 6 episodes for the first season. Idris Elba got a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for his role as John Luther. Some think he might have won the Golden Globe if Pacino hadn't also been nominated in the same category. Then when you finish the first season you could literally download the 2nd season (4 episodes) in under an hour. |

can you really not figure out why it's not called "Spooks" here?
i'm gonna get to Luther, i hear it's badass and i could always use more Stringer Bell. |

I love Netflix and I use it a lot. It was a good idea to create a thread about it so we can update it with new releases/additions.
