No doubt smarting from the public’s steadfast refusal to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Use Your Illusion albums, Axl Rose is gearing up for a tour with Guns N’ Roses (sorry, “Guns N’ Roses”) that will visit South America, Mexico, and the United States this fall. So far there are only three U.S. dates that have been announced—you’ve been warned, Miami, Orlando, and Kansas City—but more shows are expected. If the concerts go on as planned, it will be the first proper GNR tour in five years. The lineup will include whoever hasn’t pissed off Axl this week, though some are hoping for a reunion of the original lineup should the band get inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame. (GNR is eligible starting next year.) But it’s unlikely any version of Gun N’ Roses will include Slash, who Rose called “a cancer” in 2009. If by “cancer” he meant “an integral and important part of the band,” he’s absolutely right. [Via Rolling Stone]

John Mayer Scraps Shows, Delays Album Due to a Mass in His Throat

John Mayer has heavier things to worry about than performing right now.

The singer has canceled his upcoming appearances with Tony Bennett in L.A. and at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas next weekend, revealing today that he has a granuloma—an inflamed nodule or tumor-like mass of tissue—near his vocal cords.

"I know there were people depending on me to be there and I'm sorry that I can't be on those stages," a "bummed" Mayer wrote on Tumblr today.

And that's not the only bad news.

"After several months of going week to week monitoring and hoping to correct the condition, I am forced to cancel my upcoming singing engagements due to something next to my vocal cords called a granuloma," Mayer, 33, announced on Tumblr.

"Born and Raised [his next album] is complete as far as music recording, song selection, and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn't finish singing on several of the tracks," he continued. "This means the record will be released next year instead of this fall or winter."

Cue the disappointment among Mayer fans, who were counting on his fifth studio album to drop next month. But the Grammy winner is trying to be optimistic.

"This is a temporary setback, though I'm not sure how long or short a period of time it will be," he wrote. "I've got the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all clear. Until then I'll be spending time writing and composing more music and kicking an empty soup can around the West Village.

"I'm looking forward to seeing you again soon. Until then take good care."

We wish Mayer a speedy full recovery.

I agree, it's not surprising, and it's amicable. They just felt like it's the right type to end it.

It's still sad, though. Best band, IMO.
