I would say Belly Belly Nice is a very underrated song. That first live version was a huge breath of fresh air when it was played in 2012, which in my opinion was comparable to when You Never Know was first played in that it represented the band's ability to still write a classic-sounding DMB tune (YNK following the Everyday disaster, and BBN following the rock-heavy Big Whiskey album).

BBN and SMLAM is a far better comparison.

#41 is literally the same 4 chords for almost the entire song, there’s no need to keep shoehorning in these weird bridges and sections that don’t fit with the song...almost every song from 2009 onwards has fallen victim to that, and it’s really hurt a lot of their stuff imo. It just doesn’t sound natural at all.

It's too slow, although still sounds spooky.
My favourite version of Rhyme & Reason is from Central Park.

Ive always liked BBN. The lyrics are fun but not the type of song I am looking for Dreaming Tree lyrics. They fit the mood of the song just fine. I think its miles better than Shake Me.
R&R is an odd song. I recognize its a really well written song and lyrics are great but its one of those songs I rarely ever want to put on. |

Rhyme & Reason has become a rarity. Only played 36 times by the band in 10 years.

Im shocked to hear this run of slander on R&R. That is such a classic DMB song to me. I agree that its hardly ever a song you go in hoping to hear, but every time its played it hits. When dave played it at the D&T show last year, that was such a great performance. The passion he puts into that song every time is fantastic.

I was thinking the same thing. But, checked the almanac and I’ve only seen it live 19 times.

I love rhyme. Great song. Dark.
That riff is up there with his best stuff. |
