Three years ago, before I bought my 360, I would've agreed with you. I think the real issue is that most console gamers have been using some form of the PS DualShock controller since the mid-90s. Using it is second nature to most people who followed the upgrade path of PS1 > PS2 > PS3. Switching to a new controller feels odd, after so many years of the same exact thing.

But, really, once you get used to it, I think the 360's pad provides a much better experience for games like COD. The thumbstick layout seems more natural, and the triggers feel perfect for aiming and shooting.

It's all a matter of personal taste, though. I like using my PS3 controller for games like Madden and NCAA a lot more than my 360, and I overwhelmingly prefer my 360 controller for games like COD.

The very fact that Sony hasn't made any serious adjustments to the PS controller in over a decade should tell you something.

The original xbox controllers were horrible, but the 's' controller and now standard controllers are perfect.

It's a popular controller utilized by a ton of legacy software? Actually, what I think it really tells you is that it's a solid design and not worth rocking the boat over attempts to improve it (see: the horrid backlash Sony got over the boomerang controller above) -- though, in no way does that mean it's a design that cannot be improved upon. The main problem is it's still based on a design and layout from a time when the D-Pad was the most prominent input device. The thumbsticks were thrown on the bottom for the 3D games coming out to compete with the N64, but the basic design of the controller was still geared towards one thumb on the D-Pad, one thumb on the face buttons.

Really, the genius of a 360 pad is that it takes the best controller ever made (the original Dual Shock) and swaps the two input devices (D-Pad and Analog Stick) so that you can play today's games with your hands in the same position as you had them for the older games.

All a matter of opinion, though. I had years of muscle-memory on the PS1/PS2 controller that made moving to the Xbox an awkward experience, but I'm starting to prefer it to my DS3.

definitely a personal opinion but i hated the xbox controllers for everything, fighting games, fps, sports. I grew up on ps and nintendo. Like said above, if it isnt broken dont fix it. I've heard rumors of Xbox designing a ps3ish controller for those who want it.

this game is going to be so badass. I am so happy they are revamping the MK Series again and making it old-school again just like the Street Fighter series. I simply cannot wait to get this game...hasn't been a good MK game since 4.

On a related note, is anybody here interested in the Beatles: Rock Band equipment for the XBOX 360? I no longer have the system anymore (sticking with just PS3) and I am having trouble selling it on Ebay. It would include the drum set, Paul's bass guitar, a Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul guitar, and microphone. If anyone is interested, please let me know. All I would need is for someone to just pay the shipping. I don't mind giving it away for free.
