Love that he plays long sets, first time I saw him it was song after song, so cool compared to artists/bands now that are in and out....

Yes it was. Anyone know if there's a screen and/or audio capture out there?

What's the deal with Dun Laoghaoire? I went to a show in May where he was playing the full Mutineers album first, then a bunch of older songs, and Dun Laoghaoire was one of the songs included in the Mutineers half. But it's not on the album...?

Thrilled to see he's brought Slow Motion back. Would love to catch it at the Toronto show next week.

Also pumped about the Toronto show. But a bit worried about his voice and stuff. Seems like he's been touring pretty hard this whole year.

Greatly enjoyed the show last night. Was pleasantly surprised with a lot the stuff from mutineers. Much more energy on the songs that on album version. Birds of the High Artic had a pretty rocking ending. Voice not perfect but much better than I thought it would be.

John Smith opened (and played with DG on every song). David started around 8:55 for a show that was listed as starting at 8

I haven't even picked up Mutineers yet. Is it good? I wasn't crazy about the last two albums. Where does this one fall in comparison?

It's better than Draw The Line and Foundling but not as good as Life In Slow Motion imo. But that's not really an insult because I consider LISM to be his best album. Mutineers has a very lush, expansive sound and the lyrics are at times a little more abstract but still solid as usual. Overall I thinks it's worth checking out and that's coming from someone that wasn't that thrilled with the last couple albums either.

Pretty much agree with this. Pacing generally of those two just too slow and too sparse for me. This one still has a bit of a slow-ish pace relative but often build and have a bit of punch to it and has a lushness of voices throughout. "Gulls" (music video available on youtube), for instance, is a bit of a slow one but the lushness makes it a cool, dreamy song and it also has some punch to it.

Haven't really kept up with what DG has been doing the last couple of years. These new tunes are really really nice.

Personally, I'm not a fan of his trajectory lately. Makes me very sad, tbh. I loved Mutineers in 2014. Then, Gold in a Brass Age (or whatever it's called) was somewhat underwhelming. Seemed to begin favouring very mellow, very acoustic music. The variation went away. Then this Skellig album really plummeted down that hole. "Accumulates" is my favorite track, and it's actually like 13 years old. "Laughing Gas" and "Dun Laighaire" are also not bad, but ALSO several years old and scrapped from Mutineers. As a whole, his new album is a total snoozefest for me. I couldn't hum you a second of any track aside from the ones I just mentioned, and I've listened to it several times.

Havent listened to much of his work in over a decade. White Ladder is still an all-time great for me.

Hoping to see him the next time he’s in Denver.
