HOLY SH*T, San Francisco was a f*cking blast! I love the ATL so I won't say I didn't wanna come home, but I damn sure didn't wanna leave SF. Highly recommended.

Alright, time for my next adventure in two weeks!

I'm taking a break from Europe and heading to the west coast for two weeks. A friend and I are flying into San Diego April 4th and out of Seattle April 18th and driving up the Pacific Coast Highway and Oregon coast during the two weeks in between.

Our current plan is:

San Diego (3 nights)
Los Angeles (2 nights - we're going to the Price is Right!)
Santa Barbara (1 night - camping somewhere on the coast)
Montery (1 night - camping somewhere on the coast)
San Francisco (2 or 3 nights)
Sonoma Valley (1 night - camping and drinking wine somewhere)
Redwood National and State Parks (1 night - camping)
Coos Bay, OR (1 night)
Seattle, WA (2 nights)

So pumped and ready to go!

Yeah, the best part is due to me having some frequent flier miles and hotel points (not many, but enough to work with...) I was able to utilize a combination of the points, Priceline deals, and work discounts on rental cars to get:

Saturday flights into San Diego, out of Seattle (without having to take a red eye home!);
3 nights at a 4-star Hilton in San Diego;
2 nights at a 3.5-star hotel in West Hollywood;
2 nights at a 4-star hotel in Seattle;
Rental car for nine days with unlimited miles

For a shade under $1,000 each. All we have left to book are the two or three nights in San Francisco and pay a few campsite fees (~$30/night, or $15 each) along the way. If you're resourceful, give yourself enough time, and dig around enough, you can make travel very, very affordable.

One of the other things we did to cut down on the price is not get a rental car until we leave San Diego and return it when we enter Seattle. It cut $400 off the cost of the car and eliminated expensive hotel parking fees in both cities. We won't need a car in our arrival and exit cities because we'll have access to super cheap public transportation, not to mention we're close to downtown in both.

I'm damn proud of how inexpensive I made this trip for the two of us!

well I interviewed for a job with American Airlines today. It's a part time job with shitty pay and shitty hours. It'd be loading luggage onto planes sometimes, and sometimes working the gate and checking people onto a plan. It's part time to revolve around my full time job. It would take a hit on my sleep schedule and a hit on my personal life.

But...

I would get free domestic flights. And if I stick with it for at least 6 months the pay and hours would start to suck less. And in the last 2 years I've caught a travel bug. And I really want to move to NYC, and the woman that interviewed me said that would be a pretty easy task if I stick with it.

So on one hand I worry for my own mental health, on the other the benefits of free flights is awesome. So...

also, the moving to NYC came up because of the woman interviewing me. She said "well per your resume you seem to have lived in Lexington for a large part of your life. Is that something you want to continue...?" So I mentioned my want to relocate and she said that was a positive for the role

Got a buddy who works for Delta. Enjoys the free travel and has easily relocated three times since taking the job. In any case, no matter where he lives, he can always call me friday and and ask "so if I catch this flight in an hour can I sleep on your couch for the weekend?" Fuckin awesome. And youre right, the bennies and pay get better quick if you dont suck

I just arrived in Denver today for a wedding this weekend. Being a huge Broncos fan, I am thrilled to finally get out here and see the city. Too bad it's not football season though

Nice! I'm there on 4/25 for several days. F*cking beautiful out there for sure. Looking forward to checking it out sans snow and cold weather.

Yea, the weather here is crazy. Apparently, it was very warm here last week, but today they had a snow storm, which is going into tomorrow. My the end of the weekend, it should be back in the 60s

I had a pretty nerve-wracking experience landing in Denver last week too. In the middle of a snow storm

What happened? I flew them to Vegas a few years ago and had no problems?
