Laissez faire capitalism exists nowhere today, not even close. Both parties are the party of free stuff, just in different forms.

When we rejoin TPP with minimal or no changes, will Trump still call it the worst deal ever or the rape of America?

Also, I’m not down on capitalism, but do we really want like Gilded Age laissez faire capitalism again?

I don't think he was calling for its return.

Which is why I asked the question. It wasn’t loaded or bullshit, I wasn’t sure if that was the implication of his post or not. Saying we don’t have laissez faire capitalism followed by criticism of both parties seemingly being barriers to it made me ask.

So I doubt any of you all are following are following the education issue in Kentucky right now. Teachers can't legally strike in Kentucky, so on a handful of days over the last month all teachers have been taking sick days so they could go to Frankfort to rally. In numerous cities around the state, there aren't enough subs to cover so school has been cancelled.

The main issue is the pension plan teachers have. It is included in the state constitution. It is also notoriously underfunded. Teachers pay 13% of their pay into it every year. Problem is every time the state needs money, they take it from the pension fund. It's also important to note that since they are paying into a pension, they do not pay social security. Since they don't pay social security, they can't draw social security.

Many Republicans want to do away with this and start a 401K and allow them to pay into social security. This would probably be good for young teachers just starting out. But it would totally screw over teachers nearing retirement.

Over the past month Governor Bevin has called teachers bullies that want more than their fair share that are throwing a tantrum because they want to preserve what they are guaranteed in the Constitution.

Then today, while there was enough mass school closure, Ole Matt Bevin said "“I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because there was nobody there to watch them.”

“want more than their fair share.” What a fucking idiot

And that sexual assault comment is ridiculous. This whole situation is aggravating to me.

At this point, every choice made regarding Syria is a choice about the degree of loss, not the prevention of it: loss of life, loss of freedom, loss of international stability.

The teachers should be allowed to strike, but they should all be fired for doing so.

Iím sure the pension fund is a huge drain on the stateís finances. But sure, go ahead with the pensions, then Kentucky will go bankrupt and the teachers will lose everything.

RIP Barbara Bush. I didn’t much agree with either her husband or son, but she always struck me as a classy lady.

....by definition if you get fired for doing something, doesn't that mean you aren't allowed to do it?

I think the guy is a clown, but you have made some pretty over the top predictions in this thread. I would say the only way he goes away is by losing in 2020.

Trump is really hitting the midterms hard. I have a strong feeling that the Democrats will defy history and lose even more ground in the midterms. He’s going to let the gov shut down in September over wall funding, make a list of all the Dems against immigration control and use that to campaign against them. I also think he will be able to flip the Russia investigation to his advantage (witch hunt by Dems). He’s picking off Democratic incumbents in red states (like Montana) and trying to flip those seats...smart

Trump is definitely compromised. When you follow the money, it doesn’t lie. Trump lies so much he can’t keep them straight. When you have a mock practice session of interviewing with Mueller and in 4 hours only get through 2 of 49 questions there’s an issue. The republicans are just as treasonous as Trump while they sit idle and do nothing.
