I have binders full of shows that I should really just give away. This isn't a knock on DMB, just I don't ever listen to them and they are taking up space.

Yeah I have a ton of burned DMB CDs that I never actually listen to. Hell, I almost never listen to the actual discs of any of my officially released CDs. Computers and iPods have made it pretty pointless.

I did this last year. I did keep the first show I got on CDR, did the same years ago with the first cassette tape.

There are select shows I'll keep, but I'd imagine someone might want some of them...although, how many new fans is DMB attracting these days? I'd imagine not many, certainly none I will come in contact with here. Many of the people who got into them much more recently than I did here don't care much about the older, classic stuff, which is what I have quite a bit of.

when i think of TDC, a board full of new fans isn't what really comes to mind. the older stuff always goes over well here.

Have an mp3 copy of every official release. Listened to each at least once. And a rather large collection of random live versions from 1990-2011. I listen to some of these more often. About 110 GB worth all together.

The only physical thing I own anymore is Listener Supported.

Own every single live release. About 65 percent physical, the rest downloaded.

Around 2 TBs of live shows and DVDs.

edit: it's around 1.5 TBs

I've been going through my collection and pulling a lot of shows out too. It'd be nice to give them away, but to who? I don't want to run over to some place like Ants to find new fans to give shows to, especially because as you said, interest in the shows I've got would probably be pretty low.

Geez I just have a few dozen (fills a large 100 CD spindle and into a smaller spindle). Mostly CDs, but a few DVDs I used to backup SHNs back when I started collecting.

I used to have pretty much every show from '98, and was on my way to having every '95, even the little radio ones where they played three songs or whatever. I was really obsessed with those particular years for awhile, especially '95, which was really hard to collect (and I never did get them all).

The I realized there was no way I was ever going to listen to all that. I deleted a crapload of SHN files, converted a few to MP3 and kept those. I still have like 40-ish DVDs full of shows, and I don't feel like I'll ever listen to those either. Whenever I listen to DMB these days, it's either a recent Live Trax/DMBLive release or one of the albums.

Sorry, I forgot what the question was.

I used to be a completist with regard to any official release of the band...not it's more a completist with regard to getting the best recording of any show I've actually attended.

And it kills me that there is no recording of Hullabalou.

You inspired me to dig out the first show I ever got on CDR. 7-23-01. I somehow still remember the dude's name who B&P'd it for me on Minarets.net. Thanks, Nick Gregory, wherever you are.

It's hard to believe these CDRs are almost 10 years old. Disc 2 has some little pinholes in it, so it probably won't play, but I listened to most of disc 1 last night. Oh, the ladies.

On the subject of cassettes, I never traded tapes, but I did sort of have a first show on cassette. First, I had a bunch of the random popular DMB tracks from Napster (You know the stuff, Jimi with Trey, Say Goodbye with Popper, Spotlight, etc), and made a mixtape from those. I just played them in WinAmp and recorded to cassette via my PC's line-out. Also, though, back then there used to be a couple of sites that would post shows in mp3. I remember using GoZilla on my shitty 56k connection to download each individual track of 7-13-00. It took a couple of days. Then I did the same thing and made a tape of it (or at least most of it, I must have skipped some songs because it was just one tape). That was pretty nice to have, since my car had a CD and tape deck. That recording was in fact the first time I heard the Lillywhite songs, like Raven and Grey Street. Ahh, memories. For the record, I never traded that show to anyone. I found the whole trading scene a few months later and saw the whole *NO MP3* stuff everywhere, plus nobody wanted tapes anyway. This was 2001, when people were starting to give their tapes away.

I know, I know. Cool story, bro.

Still have my first CD-Rs which I received as a B+P in 2004 (before I had high speed internet). They were tapes of the first two shows I attended (5.30.99 and 8.26.00). Got them from Avi Sareen who I believe taped some shows at one point.
