Celebrate and Bullets and Rum are the two I just can't get into.

I really love Drive Me Away, though, and hope they do something with it.

I love Drive Me Away as well.

Celebrate I'm on board with, but I also cannot feel anything for Bullets and Rum.

Celebrate is one of those that should never see the light and for good reason, its not DMB at all and it's essentially a demo/loop musically, but I have a soft spot for dark lyrics, and this one is dark as shit.

I agree that Drive Me Away had the most potential of all the tracks. It was fairly complete and seemed like it had room to really expand live. Almost reminded me of Too High a little bit, where it had this creepy vibe and can get big and epic.

Celebrate reminds me of Nine Inch Nails, which is a crazy but cool thing to find in a DMB song.

Personally, it's my favorite "potential" song of the bunch. it's so dark and brooding. Possibly the darkest DMB lyrics of any of the catalog. I like the gritty, heavily distorted guitar and how it fits the lyrics. Wouldn't mind them finishing it, but in a way that retains that grit and not ending as overly-polished.

Are these lyrics posted anywhere? I heard the song back when it leaked, never downloaded it. Just curious to see it again.

I think, at the time, they decided to lay low and pulled them to err on the side of caution.

ďThatís always the tension. Maybe you want to be a painter but to make money you do commercial art. Maybe you want to be a landscape photographer but for a career you take wedding photos. Iíll write a funky song about lust and sex and it makes you want to dance. I feel like thatís okay.Ē

On Halo of Stars music:

ďI wasnít answering to anything other than the act of making new music, and that music was made with pure intention.Ē

He then goes on to complain about AFTW being done, but then he was told to keep working on it.

So again, I might be misinterpreting him, but I get this sense that either Dave, the band, record label or management has an idea of the type of music the audience wants but itís inaccurate. Since ED came out, the band has skewed more towards that type of record producing and songwriting, yet the band was at its most popular before ED was released.
True, but couldn't Dave be speaking about the fans wanting the 90s DMB back again too with those comments?

I just clicked on the google drive link and it worked. Didn’t actually try to d/l, though, so it might error out there. Or google may just not want to allow sweet dmb jamz to flow north of the border.
