I like the shorter versions like this one, the D&T ones from this year, the debut with Captain Kirk, etc. I think most would agree that it's tolerable at worst when it doesn't have the aimless and interminable piano outro tagged onto the end, and especially when it doesn't segue into Out of My Hands.

I really like how Dave played this one. I've never been a big fan of his fingerpicking in general, and this is a nice change of pace.

The only thing I dislike is the studio version wasn't quite long enough in the outro and the live versions are always much too long.

I really like that the original single release has a slightly longer fade out. 4:41 vs. 4:28.

edit: Here's an mp3 rip of the performance: [Only registered users can see links.]

I like the piano outro, personally. They've done some great versions of it over the years.

Very well done, love the vocals and the playing of chords, it really helps fill the solo version in a bit.

Kinda meh on the performance. His voice is so... weak.

Always dug this one

The song actually carries a little more weight without all the scatting/nonsense.

yeah, that 9/21/01 performance was great. The whole feel of that telethon was so unique, of course. (also the same night Mike Piazza hit arguably the biggest HR in NY sports history).
