Ha. I did most of those on the fly, so I guess it was an omission on my part.

Just a thought, and trying to give you more "work", but maybe that list would be better displayed by year now rather than month? Some of those aren't necessarily essential, but at least for me I was just trying to think of shows on those dates. So I guess if you want it to be recommended shows for monthly dates, it's good as is, but a list of essential shows I think would be better by year and we could certainly prune that list a bit.

Ya. Not a bad idea.

All I did was essentially copy/paste the full month's list to the doc, then add commentary as more and more people chimed in with the obligatory "hey, wtf.... why isn't this one on there? Its important because it was in Maine."

Ha. My oldest daughter is home from college, lazying around the house. I made it her responsibility to get that fucker immediately in the house upon delivery, b/c it's pouring rain here.

It's only noon. No self respecting college kid is awake yet.

Been listening to the 5/5 New Haven show in anticipation of the box today.

I know Cornell is 'the' show, but man... there's not much to complain about with any of this stuff in May of that year.

How 'bout that Sugaree from 5/5?? Yum. Top 5 version for me.

And yeah, it's all so good. It's the Set 2 of course that makes Cornell epic. There are plenty of better first sets that month. What a great year overall.

Oh god yeah. That Sugaree.

I typically find Looks Like Rain to be 1st set filler, am pretty indifferent to it. That is to say, it's not one of those songs that I remember certain versions and note it in my brain.... but this version? This version is pretty damn serious. Jerry's part after the "streetcats" verse...

I guess that's the sign of an historic run like this. Every version of every song could be considered singular.

Last night I couldn't resist and downloaded the Cornell release off of iTunes (lol ! mp3s). I had a gift card laying around so I figured why not.

Anyway, biggest take away so far is Keith's piano. It sounds so nice and warm coming from the left channel. Even when a song is reaching its loudest peak he's always audible. Fantastic. And this Morning Dew? Man.

Just waiting on my juicy Flac files to finish now.

Yeah, after Fall '77, that was it for H>S>F until '83. Franklins, of course, continued to be played during that time though. I don't think there was any specific reason Help>Slip were absent for so long, but once they were dropped for a bit, being complex (I think, I'm not a musician), it probably needed to be rehearsed a bit before returning.
