I too like AFTW. I think it’s far superior in song quality to BW.

I prefer AFTW to BW.

And if we're comparing cringe-worthy lyrics, sure, "eat your belly jelly til the kingdom come" is rough, but let's also bear in mind Rapunzel's
"Open wide
Oh so good I'll eat you
Take me for a ride
In your sweet delicious
Perfect little mouth
Thereupon I linger
You will have no doubt
I'll do my best for you, I do "

Late to the party on this one, but I love Gaucho and think the only thing bad about it is the stupid song title.

Same. BW is a clunker with the exception of a few songs.

Broken Things was a really good opening song on that album. Great placement for it, and it's a great song.

Agreed. And yet they never play it live.

It's been said that Dave isn't comfortable playing it. Which is a shame, because it's fantastic.

Because of his voice? If that's the case he shouldn't be comfortable singing TGIY

Honestly I don't think anything tilts me harder than posts like this. Posting lyrics on paper without the musical context and trying to comparatively judge them. It's dumb.

The opening run on BW is much better IMO, but the back half does suffer...mainly from You and Me. The middle of AFTW is just garbage.

Broken Things --> Grux /Shake Me (this was close. The Studio Version is tight)
Belly Belly Nice = Funny The Way It Is
Mercy <--- Lying In the Hands of God
Guacho <--- Why I Am
Sweet <--- Dive In
The Riff <--- Spaceman
Belly Full <--- Squirm
If Only <--- Alligator Pie
Rooftop ---> Seven
Snow Outside ---> Time Bomb
Drunken Sol. ---> Baby Blue/Y&M

My humble opinion

Nah, I think it's something to do with the guitar, but I'm not entirely sure. I just remember people saying he complained about it on an IEM recording.

Yep, really listen to the studio cut of Shake Me. It hasn't been topped live unfortunately, its just a mess live. Also understand where we were coming from on the prior record. Again, its just one man's opinion, and I did give Broken Things the edge.

Forgetting how it compares to Broken Things I can honestly say that I loved the studio version of Shake Me. Obviously some of the dumb lyrics are there but coming off of the absolutely lifeless production on SU and the Roi tragedy, hearing Grux > Shake Me got me so absolutely jazzed. It felt like the band had a new energy to it and it was very exciting. Only speaking for myself of course.

I think this is overblown. I'd have to hear the clip again but I don't think it was anything enough to completely shelve a song if Dave actually had any desire to still play it.

Fair enough. I agree the studio cut of SMLAM is the best version.

Pretty sure it was the last time they played it.

You know you’re on a MESSAGE BOARD, yeah?

Obviously I think Rapunzel is far superior, but BBN is a fine song and has comparable lyrics. Get over it dude.
