Also, hoping the theater close to me does the Star Wars Marathon like they did for The Force Awakens.

Easily the worst part of the trailer.

Jar Jar was awful because he had an awful design and spoke like a stereotype.

I'm admittedly no huge star wars buff, so laugh away if you like, but does anyone entertain the idea that Jar Jar's idiocy was initially intended to be farce and he was really a Sith Lord in disguise? A friend showed me some videos/websites that show him using the force to manipulate characters and control situations, how he rose to power...all this crazy but subtle stuff, but says Lucas was chased off the idea over the time period that the movies were created? I think Lucas and Ahmed Best (played/voiced Binks) have alluded to it. He was rendered the way he was for a reason...

I'm sure I'm not blowing any minds, but check this out if you haven't already.

This better not be an empire ripoff like 7 was a new hope ripoff. Empire is the best in the series, but that would be lame.

From the trailer, I'm not seeing a lot of obvious parallels.

Only thing bothering me is Luke seems like a giant pussy all of a sudden You mean to tell me the guy that faced Vader/Emperor is now scared when someone breaks some rocks with the force? I had imagined an older Luke more like Obi wan in A New Hope. Mark Hamill is a fantastic actor though, so regardless of where they went with this character I'm excited to see his performance.

I'm still beyond excited for this, just kinda wished I hadn't seen this trailer to be honest

spoiler it, MaLaKaS!

Very excited about the direction this trailer showed. I like what I see from Luke, it was good to see Snoke, and Rey & Adam Driver at the end?!

That makes sense to me. I mean ever since this Hamill quote I've been expecting this to go off the normal script -

"When I read 8, I told Rian [Johnson, the writer-director], 'I fundamentally disagree with virtually everything you've decided about my character'," Hamill said during an ABC interview.

Hmm, that's really interesting about the movie covers. I didn't realize that. So that would mean that Luke is the bad guy? I always thought it would be an interesting twist if Rey ends up becoming really strong and turning to the dark side, and maybe we see Kylo Ren turn good, like a role reversal. We all assume that Rey is Luke's daughter, and it's possible she has more of Anakin's genes in her than Luke's. Perhaps Kylo Ren will become the Last Jedi after all. He feels bad about killing his Father (Han Solo) and his emotions turn him to the good side.

A stretch and potentially dumb, but otherwise it's pretty lame and predictable at this point what's going to happen. Plus, I don't like The dude playing Kylo Ren as a bad guy. He's just not very scary or intimidating to me at all. That being said, Kylo Ren does say this in The Force Awakens to the Darth Vader mask , "Forgive me. I feel it again. The pull to the light. Supreme Leader senses it. Show me again, the power of the darkness, and I will let nothing stand in our way. Show me, Grandfather, and I will finish what you started." So, he constantly feels a pull toward the light and perhaps it's stronger than we think.

I think that's kind of the point. Whereas when we were first introduced to Vader and he was a certified "bad dude" from the start, we are getting to watch Ren progress into it. That was my complaint too when I first watched Force Awakens, but once he killed Han that definitely changed.
