Some people are saying it might be a trap, especially with the open sign-ups. Might be paranoia, but kinda makes sense...

A trap? Nah.

I'll keep you posted once they fire up some invites

5,000 users? They had 13,000 in the first 24 hours. So they were at 16.5k about five hours before it was posted in this thread. So it must have hit 20k. Something about this makes me skeptical. The name, too polished too fast, open registration and the wide spread nature. I read about this site on literally every message board I visit yesterday. Waffles said they couldn't switch to gazelle because of the time and resources. They said it would take months. And this place pops up in a few days? I realize there were a lot of developers willing to help, but still. Just struck me as odd. And if you were going to set a trap, this is probably how they would do it. Interpol all 'bout dat lyfe.

What makes people think there would be such an elaborate 'trap' set, that includes the free sharing of so much media?

None of us have seen what happens after you register.

I don't think we are saying its an FBI trap. But it's a prime target for some malware trap that will, like, use your computer to hack the DNC or DDOS the east coast again or something.

Ahh, you're right... I was reading online and someone said 5,000 users, looking back now, looks like they kept adding 5,000 accounts when they hit the limit.

I don't think they would prosecute 20k people, but they could do it to gather info. I was hung over yesterday and am always paranoid. I'm sure it's fine. But, when you go to refinance that home loan in ten years and the guy across the table says, "I see here you steal music, jason? Do you think we should give money to a thief?" you remember yesterday. Tamby's America. WE ALL LAUGHED AT HIM.

I just saw 21+k is where they shut it off. Interpol was happy to start there.

I'm not saying it is a trap or not, but Gazelle is open source software ([Only registered users can see links.] ). Anyone with some technical know how could set their own up in a few hours. Waffles point about how it would take time and resources is because they have their entirely library in their own system. They would need to write a bunch of code to migrate those records. Xanax/PTH both have the "benefit" of starting off clean.

Yeah, I mean it's obviously much different, but there is at least some evidence of law enforcement using those tactics.

There are plenty of people worried about it, be those concerns founded or not.

Looks like as of now, Xanax/Apollo is legit. Just a matter of invites or open sign ups to happen

Looks okay this morning. I saw people were seeing 2 million invites or something, wonder if they just screwed up while playing with the settings?
