I agree, but overall the offense looked better than Bama. Defense can and will be worked out. It'll be interesting to see what Sumlin does with him saturday. I wouldnt be surprised to see him sat again.

This is true... while defense 'wins championships', college football most often sees the 'which offense can outscore the other' approach. But the latter mentality is something that holds the least amount of water against the speed-frenzied defenses of the SEC. It'll be interesting.

One thing I did notice about Manziel's play last week: His off-season quarterbacking work (yes, that happened believe it or not) has either himself, or his coaches, wanting him to stay more patient in the pocket. There were a few dropbacks where he was hesitant to take off on the 'water-bugging' scramble that the country and the Aggie fanbase grew so accustomed to last year. I'm not sure if its an injury-proventative thing, a honing of his throwing skills and patience, or a combination of it all.

Not sure what kind of dividends this will have going forward. While you can't catch lightning in a bottle twice, being his style and virtual unknown factor of last year, I question whether or not he's better off staying true to that kind of quarterback play. We shall see.

edit: of course all of this is a mute point if he doesn't pull his head out of his ass and start acting like a kid that's 'been there', in the endzone and victorious that is... the kid's got to realize that the autograph taunts from other players, and trash-talking in the like, are going to be a regular thing this season. If a kid from Rice can get in his head, and he doesn't shape up, I have no doubt that he'll be mind-fucked by the 'bigger and badder' players from these SEC teams... He'll probably always have an aura of cockiness to him, but being showy (whether or not its good for his image in the long run) doesn't mean you have to bite on all the taunting and retaliate. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he gets benched a few times this year.

I also feel like, because of this ^, if it isn't addressed (or even if it IS at this point), no matter what his numbers look like at the end of the year, Heisman voters wouldn't give him another trophy anyway.

What is lost in the whole Johnny Manziel saga is the essence of the team as a whole. This thing should be looking to a National Championship, and nothing more at this point.

People don't recognize our stout backfield, the stud receivers, and our O-line. If our defense gets shored up like it should, we could be a force to be reckoned with. But again.... at some point there has to be some kind of leadership to get us there.

Ok I'll shut up and listen now.

They arent focused on a national championship, they are focused on calming down their hot head qb. Johnny football will not be good in the NFL, I'm not sure anyone will put up with his shit. Sumlin should sit his ass and put that back up in, he did good stuff last week and I think he should be seen as the future of the team, because Manziel wont be there next year.

South Carolina announced that they will be wearing all white on saturday.. cute, white to a funeral. Tacky? Who knows. I wish we would pull a black out out now. I've been telling everyone I know and telling them to share it on facebook to tell anyone who is going to wear black. Even if the team isnt wearing them if the crowd is in all black that might mess with them a bit.

Ugh. 3 turnovers in red zone in the first half. Not pretty.

Florida didn't look like #12 in that game, they should drop to the 20s.

(Should be out of the 25, but SEC...)

On a side note, I think more college coaches should go for the 'my-mom-picked-out-my-Easter' shirt and tie look.

SC's Shaw is out-playing Murray, but the Cocks don't have Gurley, which I think will be the difference in the second half of this barnburner.
